Honestly SF is a suburb compared to NYC. And I like it that way.
If you think San Francisco is only 4-5 years behind NYC culturally then you are a philistine idiot. San Francisco is decades behind NYC and anyone with an iota of taste in their body knows this. NYC clears SF in food, night life, music, arts, fashion, urbanism, walkability, intellectual spaces, and exposed brick walls. If you have observed how people in the two cities even just dress and carry themselves you know it's a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation. NYC has comedy clubs, theater, and intellectual life spanning EVERYTHING, not just AI and tech. In New York I can go see a play, get dinner in a dimly lit restaurant, and then get drinks with my friends for like $500. You can't do that in SF. In NYC I can go to a party in Brooklyn and meet amazing experimental visual artists who really don't like getting asked if their parents pay for their nice 1 bedrooms. Yesterday I went bar hopping during the day to catch all the Big 10 football games which is becoming a huge cultural mainstay in Manhattan. Yeah, we're culturally and intellectually superior to San Francisco tech nerds. Do I even need to mention the subway?

Surprised "Everything that happens/is generated" being the first letters award for the scroll prize this year didn't hit the TL harder...
Company I used to work for made interviewees show their uber rating as a way to determine how they treated others when no one was looking.
They stopped when they looked at all there own execs uber ratings lol
30% of the interviews I do these days the candidate is so obviously reading off a screen with ai generated responses.
Comes off as so scripted and the answers have the right buzzwords but are unlistenable.
Bummed that people think this is a good move.
Things i've seen that are a tell:
-they dial in with their phone camera not their laptop camera. presumably to use their laptop for AI.
-no thinking state, no uhms, or pauses just plowing through a long ass answer with no emotion behind what they're saying
-eyes darting around to give off they're not reading off the screen
-had someone this week where the AI unmuted and started giving the answer lol

Consumer level context layer that plugs into agents seems to be an opportunity.
Normies aren’t going to use GitHub.
Being able to do a 5 min setup of context and then porting it to any harness for the masses seems like it’d be huge

People drive way more aggressively around Waymo’s. (Cut them off etc)
No driver, no consequence of road rage etc. must be annoying for the passengers.
Coopers Hawk randomly flew into my backyard in San Francisco.
That’s a Lifer for me!
Seen a lot of red tails but never a Coopers in SF.
Took me a while to determine if it was a sharp shinned hawk or not.
