The least secure entry point is the password reset or account recovery process. All someone needs to do is pretend they are locked out of your account due to password or #2FA issues, and the well-intentioned support team has only primitive tools to assess if it’s really you.

Why? Today, players are “identified” by an email address or a gamer tag (not a name-tag). Having a pseudonym only works when someone takes responsibility to know the real identity of a person.

The best way to protect people of all ages is to verify that a real person behind an account is known to at the least the platform (even if the player goes by another name in public).

Many members of our team have been approached via text message recently by someone pretending to be me and asking for something. In more than one case it led to a request to go buy pre-paid gift cards and send them via a photo.
This time, we used our own technology to stop the fraudster in their tracks!!
