A long time ago I turned down a job with a startup that offered Cher options.
Ah, If I could turn back time...
This is not a Rick-Roll, safe for work, and worth visiting.

Never in 8 years as an iOS engineer have I been more excited about iOS development as am I lately thanks to TCA (and everything else Brandon and Stephen do) and SwiftUI
In our livestream last week we refactored a moderately complex app to use the new observation tools of the Composable Architecture.
Each step of the way we could delete code, use simpler tools, and it back ported all the way to iOS 13! 😍

The map for #AdventOfCode seems similar to the one from 2020, except this time the position you end up in is marked by a star.
#adventofcode starts tomorrow! I hope you’ve all got your projects set up and ready to go.
Good luck! May you get all 50 stars!

📣 @iosconfsg takes place January 18th-19th, and I'll personally pay for tickets for 10 women to attend the event, including the extra SwiftData workshop. You'll need to cover travel/accommodation, but the ticket price is on me. Interested? Email me: [email protected] 🙌
Paul does a lot for developers. Please consider supporting his efforts if you are able to.
😭 I'm raising money for folks experiencing homelessness. Last night I went to bed a long way from my fundraising target. This morning I woke up to find you've 5x-ed it, and more donations are still coming in. Thank you for your incredible generosity 🙇♂️ justgiving.com/page/circuit-…

Our tour of the Composable Architecture 1.0 has finally come to an end. If you are curious what the library has to offer, then check out the full series here:
pointfree.co/collections/tou…
We cover navigation, domain modeling, dependencies, and a whole bunch more!

ALT A screenshot of our website showing the full series of 7 episodes for our tour of the Composable Architecture 1.0. The table of contents reads as follows: Core lessons The Basics 57 min Introducing Standups 50 min Navigation 50 min Stacks 1 hr 2 min Correctness 36 min Dependencies 51 min Persistence 51 min
This series has been amazing. The difference in ergonomics since the library was first introduced makes it so much nicer to use once you get your head around the concepts.
The videos and sample code are really useful when it comes to “convincing” people to give it a try.
Next week we finish off our tour of the Composable Architecture 1.0 by adding persistence. That gives us the chance to deal with more complex dependencies and write extensive tests.
Until then, you can catch up on our entire tour series right here: pointfree.co/collections/tou…

It’s also worth mentioning that these two tests pass deterministically, 100% of the time with no extra work needed by you.
This is in stark contrast to vanilla SwiftUI, which we explored in our “Reliable Async Testing” series. Those tests were flakey: pointfree.co/collections/con…
Unit testing is not common in the iOS community, but that's because it can be very hard to run features in complete isolation.
The Composable Architecture makes testing easy, and most features built with the library are testable right out of the box!

Congratulations!
The Composable Architecture has reached a major milestone: version 1.0. To celebrate this release we are doing a fresh tour of the library so that folks can become comfortable building applications with it in its most modern form.

I’ve just got some lovely new HFS running shoes from @XeroShoes, but I’m laid up with a knee injury from over enthusiastically dancing to “Come on Eileen” by, ironically, Dexy’s Midnight Runners 🤦♂️ #LiveLifeFeetFirst
