Here’s the full list of preview images Apple has prepared to match the hardware color options of its home device. All of these assets are bundled in PhotosUIPrivate in the iPhone Duo simulator runtime.

Setting up Apple’s upcoming Home device includes a new step: creating a Photo Face. It’s the same Photo Face coming to StandBy on iPhone Duo. That might explain why Apple hasn’t officially made StandBy available in the simulator. Photo Face requires iCloud Photos. During setup, iPhone sends a few full-resolution “cold-start” photos so the face can display immediately. The device then downloads the rest from iCloud. (“Apple device” is a fallback because CoreTypes doesn’t know the new device’s name.)

Nothing to see here. The Home Theater section already exists in tvOS 27.0. HomeKit still doesn’t know how to construct a four-HomePod surround system in OS 27.2. No real change there since I last reported about this in 27.0 beta 8. As an example, here’s a Home Theater with 3 different speakers in tvOS 27.0. Each speaker receives stereo sound. The system picks the first item you select to route system audio to. In OS 27.2, Apple actually removed the HomePod 2 surround DSP graph (AID12001/HAL/speaker_surround.dspg), but added impulse-response pruning helpers to the four-speaker surround calibration.

Get ready for Siri AI on HomePod. audioOS 27 includes Linwood, the system behind Siri AI, plus a new look and sound for Siri on HomePod. May require new hardware. The new status lights emphasize white, blue and orange, matching Siri AI’s palette on other devices. 🔊 Sound on
