Unpopular opinion: the people getting the most out of AI are the ones who could do the work without it.
Re-analysing existing genomic data has the potential to give more patients a molecular diagnosis.
Re-analysis is great - but it can be tricky to implement. 🧵

As a quick aside, I really like this figure which shows how re-analysis drives new molecular diagnoses.
It views the excellent work from Dai et. Al (2023) and through the mechanisms we described in our paper from the same year
With that all said, I’d like to thank my wonderful co-authors Natalie Tan, Pei Dai, Clair Sullivan, @ZornitzaS, Lata Vadlamudi and Nic Waddell (@TeamNicWaddell) - it was an absolute pleasure to work on this with all of you!

I'm almost tired of tweeting cancer progress this year
but pancreatic cancer is getting smacked:
Two pills, zero chemo, and 18 out of 22 patients saw their tumors shrink
Tango paired its pill with daraxonrasib, the RAS pill FDA approved in August after it doubled survival vs chemo (13.2 vs 6.7 months)
Most of these patients were already on their THIRD line of treatment, which is usually where the options run out
82% had their tumors shrink. Every single one had the cancer stop growing or shrink. 88% still hadn't progressed at 9 months
Main side effects were mouth sores and rash, which compared to pancreatic chemo is kinda a spa day lol
Only works on a subtype missing a gene called MTAP(not every pancreatic cancer), and a phase 3 vs chemo starts next year
Your grandpa got 6 months and a hospice brochure.
Our kids are gonna get two pills and a follow-up scan.
Hi everyone,
I’ve finally had a free moment, so I’ve jumped on the bluesky train.

So, I’d like to thank my wife and baby for putting up with / continuing to endure all my nonsense.
Even though this project was a lot easier for me than my MPhil, these things are never easy for the student’s loved ones, and I feel like their sacrifices are often overlooked.
