The problem with AI is that it’s causing this massive brain drain where our brightest kids are working on curing cancer and creating abundant energy instead of building derivatives exchanges

How did she develop such an affinity for a relatively niche character?

LLMs are making me much more likely to engage with CI. I've always had a vision of how I wanted my CI pipeline to work, but the effort:reward ratio was not worth it when I had to learn Bash, read the entire GitHub Actions awful YAML schema docs etc. No more excuses for slow CI.

Part of this is just GitHub actions, I hate Bash and I hate having to learn some untyped YAML schema that fails at runtime. A CI pipeline is concurrent programming + cache invalidation, how can we ask programmers, with a straight face, to do that in Bash?

Recently re-listened to a Harvard Business School lecture and this time around it struck me that the Engineering department is not the source of all corporate value (CFO leaves room) if Engineering was a fire truck it would be the biggest one in the world

reading Avatar The Last Airbender picture books to my kid at bedtime really changing my entire perspective on the show. all these hidden emotional valences in stories reveal themselves once you have kids.

(me, teary) Aang's true power isn't bending 4 elements, but thinking in 4 ways. He had to give up his airbender mindset to learn earthbending. Any of us could be an Avatar if we could learn how to think and feel like people different from us. (kid, pointing): Aang's on a rock!!!

LA is so mysterious and enigmatic. Because there's so few movies or songs set in LA it's really hard to understand it without going there yourself.

In light of today's security news, I am doubling my key length from 8 to 16 bits.

Hey friends, I’m looking for my next gig - ideally something deep in a perf-sensitive stack, somewhere in Rust land. Would appreciate a boost!

New Talarico ad running statewide: "Ken Paxton says, I don't have his experience, and he's right. "I've never been indicted for fraud. I've never been reported to the FBI for bribery. I've never been impeached by my own party, and I've never given a sweetheart deal to a pedophile. "I have a different kind of experience. I've worked with both parties to cap the cost of insulin and pass the largest property tax cut in Texas history. I'm James Tallarico and I approve this message because we need a different kind of experience in Washington."

if there was only a company that already combined agentic design, analysis, toolpathing all in one platform, and pushed those verified designs straight to a factory
