#EatDrinkOhio - Congratulations to Charley Shin on receiving the Community Champion Leadership Award! Presented by American Express, this honor is part of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's Restaurant Advance Leadership Awards. The Community Champion Leadership Award honors an individual who has made a significant positive impact on their community through charitable initiatives and enhancing community well-being, showcasing the vital role that individuals in the restaurant industry can play in creating lasting change. Charley is a restaurant industry veteran, founder, and CEO of Charleys Philly Steaks and Bibibop Asian Grill. After immigrating to America from South Korea, Charley earned his degree from The Ohio State University and launched his original cheesesteak concept directly on campus in 1986. Driven by a people-first philosophy, he has grown his portfolio into a global brand footprint—empowering franchisees and expanding into new concepts centered on culinary innovation, employee support, and community care. Charley is passionate about empowering young people through education and, to-date Charleys Kids Foundation has raised nearly $14 million to provide tutoring and literacy support to more than 230,000 students. @WeRRestaurants @OhioProStart

Nelson Peltz and Greg Flynn have a $1.4B offer on the table for Wendy's, or $7.35 per share. That's a 20% premium off the share price on Tuesday. But it's down 10% so far this year. It also demonstrates just how much the company's valuation has come down. It's a 65% decline from 2024 and a 58% decline since 2024. Peltz himself tried buying Wendy's in 2022 and said earlier this year he was considering a deal before reports indicated that he wasn't going to do that. But then something changed. The Flynn part of the deal is fascinating because he is a big Wendy's operator and appears to be getting into the buy-chains business. But because it's Greg Flynn he doesn't just buy anything. $WEN Anyway, first look here: nrn.com/mergers-acquisitions…

There’s something special about October in Ohio as we enjoy a stretch of weather that could make this the nicest October on record! ☀️🍂 Sunny skies, comfortable temperatures and beautiful fall colors have made it the perfect time to enjoy everything Ohio has to offer, from pumpkin patches and Friday night football games to festivals, outdoor dining and neighborhood trick-or-treating! According to an @axios analysis of National Weather Service data, Columbus has already experienced 17 days of “nice” weather this month, putting us in historic territory. The record appears to be 21 days, set in 1924, and we still have a chance to beat it! For Ohio’s restaurants, hotels, tourism destinations and local businesses, beautiful fall weather is a welcome boost, encouraging people to get outside, travel, dine out and enjoy their communities.

Here’s what’s at stake for restaurants in the 2026 midterm elections: All eyes are on the Democrats as they attempt to wrest control of Congress. If they do, expect movement on tariffs (questionable), eliminating the tip credit (terrible for restaurants, hotels, servers, bartenders and other tipped staff) and more. restaurantbusinessonline.com…
