By September, Canada had already committed more than that since 2022. Today in Montréal, Mark Carney pledged about $780 million toward the EU’s loan to Ukraine.
Here at home, at least 23,746 patients died in 2024–25 while waiting for surgery or a diagnostic scan. Half of Canadian adults say they either have no family doctor or struggle to see the one they have.
Then the rent comes due. In September, rents were up 2.8% from a year earlier. Gas was up nearly 28%. And the groceries that $150 bought in September 2020 now cost about $200.
Today, Canadians got a dollar figure for Ukraine. If you’re waiting for surgery, can anyone even give you a date?
