Esquires in Eastcote celebrating their 100th day of opening today. Amazing muffins and super dog friendly.
Beautiful words
Rest in peace, Patricia Routledge 🙏🏻
In memory of her, I encourage everyone to read these words of hers from February last year.
Whether young or old, you're bound to get something out of it.

"I’ll be turning 95 this coming Monday. In my younger years, I was often filled with worry — worry that I wasn’t quite good enough, that no one would cast me again, that I wouldn’t live up to my mother’s hopes. But these days begin in peace, and end in gratitude.
My life didn’t quite take shape until my forties. I had worked steadily — on provincial stages, in radio plays, in West End productions — but I often felt adrift, as though I was searching for a home within myself that I hadn’t quite found.
At 50, I accepted a television role that many would later associate me with — Hyacinth Bucket, of Keeping Up Appearances. I thought it would be a small part in a little series. I never imagined that it would take me into people’s living rooms and hearts around the world. And truthfully, that role taught me to accept my own quirks. It healed something in me.
At 60, I began learning Italian — not for work, but so I could sing opera in its native language. I also learned how to live alone without feeling lonely. I read poetry aloud each evening, not to perfect my diction, but to quiet my soul.
At 70, I returned to the Shakespearean stage — something I once believed I had aged out of. But this time, I had nothing to prove. I stood on those boards with stillness, and audiences felt that. I was no longer performing. I was simply being.
At 80, I took up watercolour painting. I painted flowers from my garden, old hats from my youth, and faces I remembered from the London Underground. Each painting was a quiet memory made visible.
Now, at 95, I write letters by hand. I’m learning to bake rye bread. I still breathe deeply every morning. I still adore laughter — though I no longer try to make anyone laugh. I love the quiet more than ever.
I’m writing this to tell you something simple:
Growing older is not the closing act. It can be the most exquisite chapter — if you let yourself bloom again.
Let these years ahead be your TREASURE YEARS.
You don’t need to be famous. You don’t need to be flawless.
You only need to show up — fully — for the life that is still yours.
With love and gentleness,
Patricia Routledge

Once more, rest in peace. 🤍
Loved the Thursday Murder Club - until they got to the travesty of what happened to Bogdan! #FreeBogdan
Brigadoon at @OpenAirTheatre What a wonderful show, just beautiful. Gorgeous choreography, staging, singing, dancing, bagpipes, costuming, the orchestra - everything really. We loved it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have seen so much negativity on her about @BurlesqueStage this week. Went tonight with low expectations and I thought it was phenomenal. One of the best shows we’ve seen - the singing is off the chart, brilliant dancing, costumes, funny, even liked the story changes. Loved it!
Entertaining evening watching Hercules @TheatreRoyalDL this week. The staging is fantastic, a real visual feast, hats off the creatives. The Muses were wonderful.
What an incredible show, the cast looked like they were having the time of their lives. Hugely enjoyable, great singing from all the cast, the band was phenomenal, really well staged and brilliant writing by @mrjohnofarrell @liveaidmusical
Finally caught up with the last episode of @bbcdoctorwho Cried all through the end, absolutely adored Ncuti Gatwa as our 15th Doctor. Thought this was a wonderful series. He’s gone far too soon 💔😢 #DoctorWho
Loving #Eurovision2025 we’ve voted for Finland, Estonia and Malta this year.
Hugely entertaining evening watching @Shucked_Musical at @OpenAirTheatre A Super talented cast in a beautiful setting and a very very funny show.
Absolutely loved #MissAusten so beautifully made, wonderful acting from the glorious cast.
Very proud of Matilda organising this in memory of her grandma. Music made such a difference to my Mum, especially in the latter stages of her dementia. Singing ‘you are my sunshine’ calmed her and brought her back to us. Will be thinking of her tomorrow.
If you can’t make the evening but would like to make a donation to @DementiaUK to support other families, the link is here justgiving.com/page/matilda-…
Wonderful evening watching #BalletShoes at @NationalTheatre Such a beautiful production. Read all Noel Streatfeild’s books to my daughters when they were young, this brought back lovely memories. Well done to all the cast and creatives.
Brilliant night at @Titanique so outrageously funny, with fantastic performances all round. Huge congratulations to every involved 👏👏
Walking home this evening via New Bond Street with was completely full of boy racers with souped up cars. Never heard anything so loud, with total disregard for anyone, especially tourists out looking at the Christmas lights… very surprised by the lack of policing @metpoliceuk
Absolutely brilliant evening at @PercyOnStage Great songs, fantastic cast, really imaginative and absolutely hilarious. Thoroughly enjoyed it @TheOtherPalace
Thanks @Hillingdon for the great job you are doing keeping the Himalayan balsam under control around the river Pinn. Very nice to see the river again!
