TOS is fantastic and it’s a tragedy that it’s being gradually sidelined into this odd curiosity, as though it doesn’t work in the modern era. The campy pulpness is part of the appeal, but when rewatched, it utterly shines (apart from the couple of stinkers).

Interesting how TNG did not really work when translated to the big screen, while for many if not most people Star Treks II, IV and VI are the best things the original crew appeared in.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Bioware has been a massive part of CDPR history. We befriended them when localizing and selling Baldur’s Gate games in Poland, Czech, and Slovakia. And later they were great help when lending us their engine for Witcher 1, sharing their wisdom and even giving us a spot at their booth at E3. I had a pleasure to visit them a few times in Edmonton and also host them in our Warsaw office. Very sad for the people affected, but also sad to see a legendary brand go down. Not a great day in the games industry.

It is a work that remains with the audience, provoking reflection and sounding alarms. As you absorb this film and carry it with you, a “tool (a digger)” for delving deeper into the future will surely begin to take shape within you. This is a film that will stay by your side for years to come.
