It's easy for me to feel helpless while witnessing Israel's destruction of Gaza — which is why I really admire @UofCJ4P for their work in raising funds to help a Palestinian family escape to safety. I implore you all to contribute to this cause tonight gofund.me/4bde9520

As a Jewish American I’ve put up with a lot from El-Sayed, but this is where I draw the line. It is neither fair nor accurate to suggest that Ross Douthat is a “smart man”
“You brought up Saudi Arabia. You just don’t like the example you brought up.” I don’t know what Ross Douthat thought he was trying to do but Abdul El-Sayed was ready for it.

I relate too much to the lonely wandering Jew to feel any personal disdain for him.

Based on this dream, carved this seal. 挽塵囂於耳 "Dragging the noise and clutter of the world out from the ear"
Dreamed that I was in my bed and I was surrounded by a cacophony of voices all shouting, screaming, berating me. I felt something in my left ear. Grabbed it and started pulling it out: a strand of thin tangled black vines that were shiny like electronic cables.

So very sorry to hear about the death of Chris Wickham - one of the great medieval historians of our times and a good friend. He was a brilliant, ground-breaking and deeply insightful man from whom I (and many others) learned a great deal. And a terrific writer too... #RIP
