The 2nd Project Steering Committee meeting of the Advancing the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) of the Maldives was held on 2 November 2026. Members reviewed project progress and endorsed the proposed 2027 workplan and budget. The NAP will further strengthen the Maldives' adaptation institutional capacity, climate information and financing, while integrating adaptation across sectors.

Marine litter is one of the main threats our Rangers encounter in the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA). From discarded fishing gear to plastic waste, marine litter can entangle and injure wildlife, putting endangered species at risk. A six-day Electric Mobility Study Tour was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 25–30 October 2026, under the GEF-7 ‘Integrated, Sustainable and Low Emission Transport in the Maldives’ project. This Study tour held in collaboration with Thailand's Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) and the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), the programme provided valuable insights into Thailand's electric mobility policies, technologies and industry developments. This tour focused on strengthening technical knowledge and institutional capacity in EV adoption, manufacturing, charging infrastructure, workforce development and battery lifecycle management. The participants visited 2 EV manufacturing facilities (Deco Green Energy, & SAIC Motor-CP (MG)), technical and vocational institutions including, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and Assumption University (ABAC), and the PTT EV Station PluZ, an EV charging facility and Thailand's national automotive battery testing centre. The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has signed an agreement with State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) to repair the existing sewerage system in Sh. Feevah. Valued at MVR 3,822,120, the project is scheduled for completion within 60 days of signing. The agreement was signed by Minister of State Ali Faris Yoosuf on behalf of the Ministry and Deputy Managing Director Aishath Muzna on behalf of @STELCOMALDIVES . #Feevah #STELCO #Sanitation #Maldives
