#Ethiopia embraced Christianity in the 4th century, before most of Europe. For 1,700 years, through invasion and empire, the faith endured in its highlands, carried in large part by the Amhara people who built and guarded its churches, manuscripts, and monasteries. Today, Amhara civilians are being massacred. Churches that stood for centuries are being burned. Priests and worshippers have been killed in their sanctuaries. And the world’s 2.5 billion #Christians have barely noticed. This is one of the oldest Christian communities on Earth. If it disappears while we scroll past, that silence will be part of the story history tells. Say their name. #Amhara
