9/ Now as we near Election Day, I’ll still be tracking the race as well as any voting irregularities in TX, including voters whose registrations weren’t processed in time or had to vote provisionally. Got a tip? Find me on Signal: 512-265-5704.

8/ In response to his state-funded trips, Paxton’s office said he travels with a security detail as he has faced “threats stemming from his courageous work” as AG. He did not answer questions about why so few trips had a listed business purpose.

7/ Paxton did not answer questions for these stories. For our voting story, his spokesperson said he is “a national leader on election integrity.” On our disclosures reporting, it was an attempt to “manufacture controversy where none exists,” she said.

6/ And just last week, we reported that a trust belonging to the Paxtons invested $600k in a new company run by a convicted fraudster.
The company later wired the trust tens of thousands of dollars before and during the AG’s impeachment trial. propublica.org/article/ken-p…

5/ As AG, Paxton has taken nearly 1,000 trips to 36 states and 19 countries with a taxpayer-funded security detail.
Only 1 in 6 of those trips had a listed state business purpose

4/ In recent financial disclosures, Paxton valued his stake in a vacant plot of Texas land at up to $50,000. His business partner told us it was worth about $1 million.
This error and other omissions appear to have violated federal ethics law.

3/ We also found Paxton’s opponent, Democrat James Talarico, may have voted from an address where he did not live. Talarico denied doing so.
An ethics expert said Paxton should be held to a higher standard because he is the state’s top lawyer.

2/ Paxton has made combating illegal voting a top priority.
We found he appeared to use an address where he did not live to vote in six elections in the past 2 years, including the one that made him the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate.

Ken Paxton is in the tightest statewide race a Texas Republican has faced in three decades.
I’ve covered the AG’s ethics and business dealings for years. As he began his U.S. Senate bid, our @propublica-@TexasTribune team kept digging — and found more.

After my story last week about TX Comptroller @DonHuffines withholding data on the school voucher program, he announced a new "transparency tool."
It will release more data than previously, but apparently won't include school-by-school or vendor-by-vendor spending info.

Greetings from Corpus Christi, where a light shower greets President Trump and Ken Paxton ahead of their rally today. Folks welcome the rain, as Corpus has struggled with a water shortage. #txlege
It’s medical tests week in our house. On the roster: 1. Bone density scan, 2. CT scan and 3. PET scan.
Today I learned the way they test bone density is by measuring how long it takes for a beam of radiation to travel through your bone. 🤯

Texas AG Ken Paxton has taken about 350 out-of-state trips with a state-funded security detail, including 25 to foreign countries.
During a 2017 Israel trip, organizers said Paxton insisted on his own security despite the government providing it for six other AGs. His detail cost $75,000.

Important story that offers a new, unreported look at Ken Paxton’s financial ties with the very type of business executives whose prosecutions he typically celebrates.
