Calling it morning is a bit of a stretch when it's almost twelve. But here she is, finally waking up whhen she suddenly feels a throbbing pain in her head. She massages her temples for a while, hoping it'll make her feel better. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺...? She wonders, her head still feeling unbearably heavy. Her hand roams across the bed in search of her phone. The moment she finds it, she unlocks the screen and squints at her notifications, trying to make sense of them. Then, her eyes suddenly pop open. The top notification shows three unread messages from Gerard—her soon-to-be fiancé. If she remembers correctly, their last conversation was two days ago, and they already ended it there. So, what could possibly make him send her three messages... at midnight? Jeanette opens their chat room and immediately screams at what she sees. She throws her phone onto the bed before burying her face in her pillow, letting out an agonizing scream. Jeanette has a habit of drunk-texting people. Usually, the unfortunate recipients are her best friend, Sorai, or mas Alan. But this time? It's someone who should NEVER have to witness this side of her. And to make matters worse, she has spent the entire conversation whining about how miserably she misses mas Alan, even begging Gerard to call him on her behalf. With trembling hands, Jeanette retrieves her phone and gathers the courage to read the messages one by one. She presses a hand over her mouth, but it does nothing to stop the horror spreading across her face. It only gets WORSE with every scroll, with every text that she sent while being drunk. Gerard's almost-too-formal, too-corporate responses make it all the more unbearable. For a moment, she considers buying a one-way ticket somewhere FAAAR away and never coming back. Alternatively, she could tell Gerard he's better off marrying someone else and call off their engagement before he has the chance to do it himself. 𝘕𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘑𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦! She slaps her cheeks, trying to knock some sense into herself. Dhe takes a deep breath and opens their chat room again. She has to apologize. She has to do something before this embarrassment consumes her WHOLE existence. Her thumbs hover over the keyboard as she begins typing, only to delete her first sentence seconds later.
