Just released browser-sandbox, a library to run code generated by agents safely in the browser.
At Faustine we build web agents: copilots embedded in your web app that understand and operate it (launching soon 😉). We developed our own flavour of client-side code mode for that and extracted some of the learnings into this small library.
Code runs in a Worker inside an opaque-origin iframe: no network, no DOM, no storage. Your page's CSP stays untouched: no unsafe-eval, nothing to allowlist.
You expose a library of functions to the sandbox. Those are your code, trusted, running on your page with the user's session. The agent's code is pure orchestration and stays in the sandbox. Calls cross over as messages, transparently: to the code they're just functions.
Some functions need human approval, and that's usually the hard part of code mode. Here any call can pause for approval with just a callback, or approvals can be batched until the agent's code observes the result, so the user confirms several actions in one step.
This isn't a code mode library but just the code execution part. You can plug it into any workload that needs to run untrusted code in the browser. We ship adapters for the AI SDK, Cloudflare Code Mode and TanStack AI.

Some devs will get the wrong impression about type-safety because of TypeScript. – at Sant Climent de Llobregat, España
TypeScript sucked out much of the joy I had writing JavaScript. I’m forever grateful that @yukihiro_matz didn’t succumb to the pressure of adding similar type hints to Ruby. May we forever enjoy this beloved language without 🙏 zverok.space/blog/2023-05-05…

Easy to forget, but the debate about signals is the same one we had about 2-way data binding vs unidirectional data flow 10 years ago. Signals are mutable state! They’re bindings with a new name. The simplicity of UI as a function of state is lost when updates flow unpredictably.

Well, Haskell, for example, is an amazing language 🤩
But its community is much-much smaller than the Rust one. Haskell focuses on making the language superior but not the tooling. Or docs. Or community.
So I don't think focusing on languages features only helps growth.
The speed of pain ™️
Let's test which language is faster! reddit.com/r/programmerhumor…

Designed by Simon Peyton Jones (et al), Verse is an interesting new scripting language, which unifies functional and logic programming.
A bit like "programming in the list monad", or perhaps, "programming in the multiVerse".

I effectively follow about 20 people, all of whom I’m friends with elsewhere. Of my ~12k followers, a frankly astounding fraction of them are incredibly generic tech dudes who at best have little to say and at worst are essentially advertising that they’re marks for crypto scams.
