two fun facts about Korea:
- retail investors account for ~66% of KOSDAQ trading. retail runs the show.
- over 190 korean companies trading below book value despite earning above their cost of capital. altszn but with equities.

Backpack and SK Securities are partnering to expand global access to Korean equities.
The partnership combines SK Securities’ institutional expertise in Korea’s capital markets with Backpack’s global reach to bring Korean stock trading to eligible investors through the Backpack app.
Building on our existing U.S. securities platform, the partnership also lays the foundation for collaboration in tokenized securities and real-world assets, connecting established capital markets with blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
Another step toward a single globally regulated financial marketplace.

i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs
but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now.
it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them
the last 6 months alone:
- a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months)
- a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months
- a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year
- a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3
- retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3
- an ai-designed drug entered phase 3
- a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3
- an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved
- a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney
- human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave
we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday
stick around, it's going to get weird

over the next few months, we’ll hear more of this narrative globally:
>> the index may go sideways, but lots of multi-bagger opportunities outside the big names
- self directed, active investing will accelerate as people try to beat the index... k shaped outcome
- ai will help uncover exceptional opportunities/companies around the world much faster
- communities will organize around high quality research. gamestop-ification of quality stocks that have no attention
- tokenization is the main show to enable global access quickly. everything else in crypto probably sideways/down

Solana traders will spend six hours researching the lore behind a frog.
You think they won’t find an obscure Japanese small cap with actual revenue?
Tokenize the long tail.
Give the trenches earnings reports.

we don’t need a new way to buy tesla stock
we need a way to buy great companies ignored by the index or trapped by geography

IMO the bigger opportunity for tokenized equities is in the long tail.
Through Oct 24, $VIDA and $PTN generated 7.8x and 2.1x their underlying stocks’ estimated US turnover over matching periods since first observed on @solana.
Harder to access stocks (e.g. small cap-stocks on exchanges outside the US) could reach new investors through apps built around discovery, community and simple trading, all drawing on shared liquidity.
If that activity develops into deeper, informed markets, Solana could become a place where prices are set, not just followed.
the best financial products will take users looking to trade and convert them into investors… that’s the only way to fight churn long term and be net positive to mkts
there’s cool things you can do with ai now - that serve the user’s risk appetite while saving them from getting blown out
eg., nudge a user about to buy nvidia calls with something like “why don't we build you a basket of 10 smaller ai stocks that could 5x if your thesis plays out?”

capital markets will be a matter of national security within the next 5 years
In the next 5y, every country will prioritize growing its domestic capital markets to drive flows… it will be a matter of national security to avoid a sovereign debt crisis
Solana couldn’t be better positioned to provide internet native distribution to these assets that are hard to access… esp as the historic rotation from US to international begins.

Most decaf coffee is made with methylene chloride. It's the solvent that used to be in paint stripper.
The green beans are steamed, then washed in methylene chloride, which pulls out the caffeine and not much else. The beans are steamed again to drive off the solvent and then roasted at over 400F. FDA allows up to 10 parts per million. When a lab tested 24 decaf brands in 2020 it found the solvent in 10 of them at about 0.05 to 0.1 ppm, around 100 times below the limit. The industry calls this the European method.
There are 3 other ways to do it. Ethyl acetate, a solvent that can be made from sugarcane, which the trade calls the natural method. Carbon dioxide under pressure. And the Swiss Water process, which uses hot water and carbon filters and no solvent at all. Peet's says all of its decaf is water process. Starbucks has told reporters most of its decaf is the direct contact method, meaning solvent.
EPA banned most uses of methylene chloride in 2024, but food is FDA's job, so decaf wasn't part of it. A petition to pull it from food has sat at FDA since December 2023. FDA reopened comments on it in May and hasn't decided. If the bag says Swiss Water or water process, no solvent touched it. If the bag says nothing, you don't know.
