Excited to share what we've been building with @NVIDIARobotics, bringing coding agents, NVIDIA Cosmos 3 Edge, and Viam simulation together to train robot motion policies.
Join us Thursday for a live walkthrough.
Nov 5 | 11 AM PT
Build a robot arm policy without task-specific real-world dataset required.
Join our livestream on Nov 5, 11 AM PT to learn how to simulate, train, and test a motion policy with NVIDIA Cosmos and Viam

First, ad is funny and great.
Second, I keep seeing more and more examples of brands going back to human made art. Predictably, most people are no longer interested on the smooth hyper realistic type of media that can be generated with AI. Humans are funny like that.
"Hand-made elements include individually molded clay characters and miniature sets as well as sculpted replicas of e.l.f. products; each scene was shot frame by frame."

The Bay Area robotics community was out in force for our hackathon with @MongoDB at @RoboticsCtr!
Developers built real robotics applications using robot arms, Viam, and MongoDB Atlas. Bridging software, AI, data, and hardware, without building infrastructure from scratch.
Thank you to all who joined us.

Robotics has hit an inflection point.
With pretrained models like @NVIDIARobotics Cosmos 3 Edge, robots can learn new tasks from just 100 simulated demos. No physical robots required.
The next challenge — getting these models running on real robots.

What’s open source on Viam? Why does it matter?
Our latest post breaks it all down.

Can robots learn general tasks from just a small number of simulated demos?
Watch it happen in real time.
Let us walk you through our @NVIDIARobotics Cosmos 3 Edge tutorial, from an empty sim to a robot arm running a trained policy.

You don’t want to miss it!
We’re going live with @nvidia on Thursday, Nov 5 at 11 AM PT to walk through the tutorial step by step. Join us: addevent.com/event/dgqbg4n7k…
So excited this is live. Train a robot with a simulator. Go try it!
Teaching a robot general tasks used to be a team of experienced engineers and lots of expensive hardware. Now it’s just an afternoon and a laptop.
If you can direct a coding agent, you can train a robot.
We built a tutorial with @NVIDIARobotics to show you how: viam.com/resources/train-nvi…

The foundation models that power robots are improving fast. But physical machines still need parameters for what they can do, where they are, and how to operate safely.
At the Long Horizon Physical AI Summit in San Fransisco, Viam's SVP of Product and Education Shannon Bradshaw explained why physical AI needs a deterministic harness that sits between model and machine.

The best kind of Friday afternoon? Getting robots to do things they couldn’t do yesterday.
Open Lab Friday is in full swing. Code, robot arms, repeat.

Language models could only talk. Agent harnesses fixed that for software. Physical AI needs the same layer.
Point those same agents at a robot arm and all of that disappears. Every try moves real hardware near real objects, with nothing bounding it except the agent’s own code.
The gap isn’t what the agent can write. It’s what the layer under it provides.
Viam is the harness for physical AI.

Meet our office’s newest tour guide, built during our internal hackathon: a robot that navigates the office and talks about the art on our walls.
The base, mic, and speaker would normally each need their own control code. With Viam, you can program them all in one place and build quickly.
Curious how it works? Viam 101 is a free course that walks you through it: viam.com/education/viam-101?…
It's always so inspiring to see all the ideas folks come up with 🤖
Two days, real robot arms, and a lot of builders. 🦾
This past weekend, we hosted Robot Hackathon: Code That Moves at our NYC HQ.
What did teams build?
- An AI agent that sorts loose screws
- Bookworm, a robot that flips through books and reads them aloud
- A water sommelier with two robotic arms that select and open a bottle
- Any many more

More software engineers are getting into robotics. And the way they're building is changing, too.
Our SVP of Product & Education Shannon Bradshaw joined the Humans Who Build podcast to discuss how Viam is bringing software engineering principles to robotics, helping developers build, deploy, and scale robotics applications without reinventing the infrastructure behind them.
He also covers how Viam Education is growing the robotics developer ecosystem and how Viam is a harness for physical AI. In a world where developers increasingly build with AI agents, Viam provides the harness they need to build with those agents safely in the physical world.

Every «rogue agent» is the result of poor human decision making. And never forget, boys and girls, never assume malice when stupidity is a simpler explanation. Substitute «incompetence» for «stupidity» to make it a LinkedIn platitude.
