During the first few decades of Zionist colonization of Palestine, the Jewish settlers wanted to become "a new breed of Jew" that appeared native to the land.
So what customs did the Zionist settlers embrace? Palestinian Arab customs, including wearing Arab dress, wearing Arab headgear, performing Arab performances like sword-dance performances, as well as using Arabic nomeclature.
And yet... as one Zionist writer put it, "but I would not at all have liked -- and all Zionists will surely agree with me here -- Jews to imitate the Arabs and the Beduins, that is to say, that they should be influenced by a primitive civilization, which, despite its virtues, has ever so many grave defects."
And herein the great irony of Zionist colonization of Palestine: they basically wanted to become Palestinian Arab even though they were deeply racist and bigoted towards Palestinian Arabs.

Please watch this video. an Alawite woman from Jableh describes how she was detained under the pretext of a legal investigation and drugged and raped multiple times over 40 days by the effective head of the city, Sheik Saleh.
This is the fate of many Alawite women in Syria now. Some are abducted and forced into a marriage they may never escape.
Others are abducted for a few days or a few weeks and repeatedly raped before being released to avoid too much public attention.
Many are forced to make videos saying they just ran away or fell in love with a Sunni man and converted to Islam.
Yesterday, the Syrian government held its first session of parliament, and many in the western media suggested this shows Syria is transitioning to democracy.
But this is false. All
Parliament members were directly or indirectly chosen by Ahmed Al-Sharaa, the president and former Al
Qaeda leader. It has no power or influence.
In reality, Syria is an extremist Islamic state run by religious sheikhs like Sheik Saleh in Jableh who can rape and steal and murder Alawites at their whim.

One funny aspect about these "arrests" is that they're a very circular phenomenon: one day a soldier burns a few cars and another one "arrests" him, with a third soldier releasing him within minutes. The next day the roles are inverted. Long story short, the arsonists never get to be even indicted, let alone found guilty.
