We didn't say "build a comprehensive regulatory scheme before we say yes to Waymo." We know that ship has sailed; grievances are for the record. We did say, "Let Waymo be regulated by the agency that already has something resembling a comprehensive regulatory scheme for TNCs."

In terms of direct impacts on traffic it seems great to say let's build a comprehensive regulatory scheme before we say yes to Waymo. But the indirect impact may be that tech companies moving to the DMV won't even pause to consider setting up shop in DC

I wrote that part, duh, and I didn't stop short of anything? I'm not the campaign and can't say "that's the plan," but idk what about what I wrote indicated that that wasn't the plan. I'm also a slow af writer and we had to get the thing out the door.
I'm like one local discourse cycle behind here, but here's my complaint about the GGWash primary postmortem. They note that McDuffie won in Ward 3, which gives JLG permission to build there. But they stop short of saying that they think this is the plan.

Here's our full testimony, which does not support the bill as written in part because of the agency in which it places regulation of AVs, which should be DFHV, not DDOT. Not supporting the bill as written does not mean we're against legalizing AVs: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

My appreciation to Connor for listening. Sometimes one must snipe to get there ☺️nitter.cf/cojobrien/status/20768…

If this is what it takes for @ggwash to get to yes, that’s totally reasonable and the Council should listen.

I love @ggwash's mission statement, but they are developing a strong track record of coming out against the very same policies they espouse.
Do we want safer streets or not?
I ran for chair of W1D on the platform of a) have meetings b) determine whether or not we endorse. The body voted to endorse and here are the results of today’s meeting. I am extremely proud, and all credit goes to exec comm, precinct reps, and vols for it happening.
ENDORSEMENTS: Here are our endorsees, who received 2/3+ of votes from nearly 300 attendees today
- Delegate: @RobertWhite_DC
- Mayor: @Janeese4DC
- At-Large Special: @tweetelissa
- At-Large Primary: @repoyedc
- Ward 1 Council: No endorsement (details in final tweet)

You’re welcome.
For you pro-housing folks in D.C., this is going to be a good election cycle: Pretty much every mayoral candidate wants to build way more housing. But whether it actually gets built is a little more complicated.

Now, the argument from the Yglesias crowd seems to be that we must eliminate all tenants’ rights to stimulate happy investor vibes. Forgive me for simply being skeptical of that given that most of the intel on investors is second- and thirdhand.
