Admittedly there is a lot of news today, but it seems a bit odd that the trial of a man who stabbed 13 people during a multi-day rampage is only visible on the BBC News website if you navigate to the UK>England section, and is only the fourth most prominent story even there.

Ha. My Dad went to uni in the 60s. A student was holding forth once to a lecturer about student uprisings in Paris and an academic responded:
‘We could beat you in a war, even if we were extremely drunk. Especially if we were extremely drunk.’
This is very good, and couldn’t be clearer. Sadly, those who prefer to outsource their thinking to others and parrot mantras instead will refuse to read it.

OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country.
