Guys hate to say it but the Nirosta Steel record is terrible. Messy and underwritten demos from an also-ran who no one would care about weren’t not for his proximity to greatness.

I supported Haley Stevens—she was my friend. I am shocked by her decision to support an anti-choice Trump Republican. Rogers attacks on Dr. El Sayed have been disgusting and his votes to take resources away from vulnerable people cruel. As a proud Arab American and Democrat I support a candidate who cares about everyone getting opportunities to have a good life. Shame on you Haley Shame Shame.

Entertainment unions challenge OpenAI’s fair use defense. SAG-AFTRA, both Writers Guild of America branches, and the AFM - American Federation of Musicians have submitted a 34-page amicus brief in a consolidated copyright lawsuit involving OpenAI, publishers, and authors. The filing represents more than 250,000 entertainment and media workers (via Deadline). “The harms of unlicensed training fall not just on companies like the News Plaintiffs, but on the countless professionals behind the work,” the brief states. deadline.com/2026/10/sag-aft…

A great record that you will like is Heather Duby “post to wire” it’s like if Mad Professor produced a Sarah McLachlan album with Ginger Baker drumming

Punker than thou idiots who really just want to be cops are the second worst kind of punks.
“they played tel aviv!” a free show 9 years ago where they were invited by an anti-zionist punk collective “but they played tel aviv” all money made went to palestinian childrens charities “but tel aviv” they just did a benefit show for palestine, sudan and lebanon “tel aviv…”

I will say this. No one needs to cover “big yellow taxi in 2026. Amy Grant did a great job in 1995 and then Janet Jackson flipped it in “got till it’s gone“ in 97. Counting crows did it redundantly in 2002. Joni’s 2007 remake with weird midi sax should have been the final word.

Okay but Cory Doctorow is in there too…

@AnandWrites asks @linamkhan about how many of the same people who opposed her also popped up in the Epstein emails: "You told me something I won't forget. You said whether in one sphere of life or another, these are men who don't like to be told no." At our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

I feel like the film assumes a baseline understanding of these realities. Her inability to acknowledge this is part of what is fascinating! It’s an investigation of self deceit among other things.
the annoying thing about the whole metaphysical “did Elizabeth Holmes knowingly lie or does she understand things differently” discourse is that it is a matter of public record that she just literally faked financial statements, altered documents, etc

I don’t think it’s particularly funny but this doesn’t seem to be more than affectionate ribbing!

Dirtbag left confused cruelty with populism, confused internal discipline with elite scolding. It starts with the “means justify the ends” thinking and then cruelty becomes its own end.
why is being mean becoming so normalized? :(

Honestly I’d be nearly as afraid meeting Nathan Fielder as I would be meeting Isaac Chotiner.
I met Nathan Fielder briefly this year at an awards show where he was being honored for “The Rehearsal.” At a loss for words, I told him “I hope the clips they chose do your show justice” (???) and he replied “Why wouldn’t they?” We then stared at each other for a moment…

Not letting my pets eat ANY food until Kelly Clarkson is allowed to buy a $15000 bird alarm clock! Who’s with me?!? #DontFeedYourPetsChallenge
Art of Play, the store of the Kelly Clarkson saga, shares new statement: “We'd like to clarify one additional detail about Kelly Clarkson's visit to our Curiosity Shop on Saturday. During the 5 minutes she spent in the store, she inquired about our mechanical bird puppet named Molly. We explained that while Molly is permanently attached to the wall and serves as a de facto mascot for our shop, a nearly identical automaton is owned by the creator of the machines, a brilliant artist named Bliss Kolb who lives in Seattle. He told us he would be willing to part with Molly's twin for $15,000. We explained all of this to Kelly Clarkson. We also offered to show her a different singing bird automaton, made by a traditional clockmaking shop in Germany, that she could have taken home with her that day. It costs about $2,000. She did not stick around long enough to see it. We've reached out to Kelly directly to try and clear the air. We really do wish her the best and hope that someday we can all laugh about this misunderstanding.”

kelly clarkson is doing her best with the tools available to her. both via retail therapy (which is legitimate, btw) and in venting online. remember, all of our experiences are relative and contextual. trauma doesn't read our bank balances.

What a cornball
Tom Morello (@tmorello) says he didn't vote for Kamala Harris in 2024. "I saw how the corporate Democrat sausage is made. It is worse than you think. And there is a righteous fury at the corporate-controlled, money-controlled electoral system we have that is absolutely illegitimate. And people cannot choke down voting for a candidate, I understand it, cannot choke down voting for a candidate that's responsible for what happened in Gaza. And they just, they can't do it."

The Pope is making a claim about what art is, independent of who gets to make it. But my point is about access, and on that front, AI tools have genuinely lowered the barrier for people who never had the training, money, time, or physical ability to make images, music, or writing through traditional means. Someone with no formal art education, someone with a disability that makes traditional mediums hard to use, someone in a place with no art schools or materials, these tools let them give form to an idea they couldn't otherwise externalize. Dismissing that output as categorically not art, full stop, risks devaluing something that functions as real creative expression and real access for those people.
