This is good but also it's a rephrasing of the four noble truths of Buddhism.
Tom Hiddleston says happiness is overrated and spending your life chasing it can actually make you unhappy "Happiness is overrated. Meaning is underrated. Happiness is like a sunrise or a sunset. Bear with me" "You're there. It's lovely. You're present with it. The sun's rising or the sun is setting. It's perfect. After 15 minutes, the moment is over and it's gone. Trying to sustain it is impossible because it's over" "And a life spent chasing the permanence of that feeling will make you unhappy because you can't hold on to it. The moment you try to hold on to it, it slips through your fingers and is lost" "Meaning is a structure that only you create in your own life, an architecture with your own particular spiritual fingerprint, whereby if you're going through a hard time, if you're going through challenge, struggle, obstacles, suffering or pain, only you know why you're going through it" "You might know, this is hard now. I'm doing it for my kids. I'm doing it for my mom. I'm doing it for my future" "And then it makes enduring the hard times bearable because you know what it means" "And meaning - this is the take - meaning yields joy. Joy is deeper than happiness"

This is the logical endpoint of the unhinged political and media culture of Germany. The only way out is through.
Es ist etwas fundamental kaputt gegangen in Deutschland, dass eine solche Kampagne, wie die gegen die Berliner Linke hier seit sechs Wochen möglich ist. Das ist maßlos.

America is an alien world. By coincidence we speak English so we feel a manufactured affinity to them, but it is bizarro and entirely incomprehensible.
here's the entirety of the seeming mental breakdown Haley Stevens just had on CNN. One of the most bizarre and incoherent political interviews I can recall. Note how she's completely unable to explain why she changed her mind from supporting Abdul El-Sayed last night to endorsing Mike Rogers today.

You can go one further and add that a lot of the left has never really done anything. Most of the prominent people are academics who read some 19th century books. There are very few people from the working class or from any profession with tangible results in there.
This explains a lot. Much of the left’s AI commentary comes from people - like Naomi Klein here - who have barely used the tools, then tell millions of readers it’s all hype.

The problem in Germany is that there is a huge quality and quantity gap of people willing to go hard and eat shit. The only person who comes to mind is @TiloJung. Similar to @debroervanroos in the Netherlands.
Mehdi Hasan has TWO WORDS for all the Abdul HATERS: “CRY MORE!—I just wanted to get that off my chest because I’ve been F*CKED OFF with these people for so long!”

Are the potholes in the UK worse than the potholes in Germany?
Absolutely brutal from a BYD spokesman on designing cars for European conditions.

This is like 90% of the people who post about their software factory or publish some limited use case library that is and will remain dead.
There’s 100% a kind of mania you can get into with coding agents, where it feels like you’re getting a lot done and working all the time but nothing is really happening. I think it's often a form of avoidance of something else in life.

This is so low and dumb. Instead of violence against a guy who can’t do much about the situation he’s been put in, the state should sanction the responsible firms.

Germany does not have a Fourth Estate. There is no journalism but instead only manufacturing of consent for the elite consensus.

It is amazing that by sheer accident of geography that all the people with three brain cells everywhere in Amsterdam have a higher quality of life than the average resident of Berlin-Grunewald.

Amsterdam is chaos which is due to a space conflict that can’t be solved easily but the least that can be done is to remove cars and reclaim the space that’s wasted on them.

The CDU should be treated as if it’s a subsidiary party of the AfD right now (because it is).
If everyone is done talking about der Spiegel’s completely unprofessional and unethical article about Elif Eralp, there was an election today for Vice President of the Berlin House of Representatives, and the AfD candidate received 40 votes, even though his group has only 29 members. Apparently, almost half of the CDU voted for the AfD

Super jarring to see lots of road works in Amsterdam where people are working. You never see that in Berlin.

Today in Germany can’t run a high speed rail network: our ICE will stop at Luwigslust (pop 11,778). Of course you need density to run a network which is an opportunity: Threaten to take away the ICE train station unless the city plans and approves 10’000 units of housing.

People living in a country need to be able to build their own housing without relying on predatory capital operations from abroad. Foreign investment is nice for speculative luxury housing and commercial real estate but for basic residences not so much.
Good Morning from Germany, where one of Europe’s biggest landlords calls the country “uninvestable.” Heimstaden is withholding fresh capital over Berlin’s expropriation plans. It owns 20,000 apartments in the city worth ~€5bn and estimates a potential €1bn loss. Its hybrid bond has plunged from ~98 cents in August to 82.5. The irony: a policy meant to tackle the housing shortage risks driving away investment without building a single new home. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
