Rest in Peace, Deva sir
Today, we learned the sad news that legendary composer Deva has passed away. Our game peers might not know much about him, but he is beloved by millions around the world for his soulful compositions. He graciously sang the song ‘Chellakutty’ on Venba at our request. Watching him sing Chellakutty was a transformative experience for me. He loved his job so much. It was infectious I wanted to have as much fun making games as he did recording songs. We wanted to work with him on the 2nd game but we're forever blessed and grateful for the one opportunity we got. Rest in Peace, Deva sir.

For context on the air conditioning debate between the US and Europe...one must consult the ancient texts: 1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. 2. Anything that's invented between when you're 15 and 35 is new and exciting and revolutionary, and you can probably get a career in it. 3. Anything invented after you're 35 is against the natural order of things. -- Douglas Adams

A lot of minority devs are limited in their scope and budget. That being said some great experiences get through like Venba from 2023. The game follows a Tamil speaking Indian kid growing up in Canada struggling to retain his culture. It was a good short and sweet time.

2000 years ago there was a Tamil poem written about a "horseless chariot that children used to learn how to walk" As we research for game 2, for the first time ever this poem is brought to life. And gave us an NPC that the whole team is obsessed with. Meet Chandra!

#Toronto 👋 I mapped every catch basin, fire hydrant, and litter bin in the city. 226,818 assets. Each one has the city's own asset ID. See a clogged drain? Tap it. Report it. The city gets the exact asset number, not "somewhere on Queen St." The exact one. From your couch. 15 seconds. No photo needed. Spring flooding is coming. Now you know where every drain is. solveto.ca

Nearly 30 years later and the CGI still holds up. That score? On another level.
