🇷🇴 There is a BIGGER PROBLEM hanging over every new Călin Georgescu case.
Romania still hasn't fully closed the argument over WHY the 2024 presidential ELECTION WAS ANNULLED after Georgescu finished first.
Even some people who do not support him have asked for the promised fuller official report explaining what happened.
Now Georgescu is in preventive detention while facing several different criminal proceedings.
When the state first nullifies an election and then prosecutes the candidate who won its first round, transparency cannot be treated as some optional administrative courtesy!
The burden on Romanian institutions to show their work is ENORMOUS!
And nobody's saying sh🤬...

My disclosures also contributed to regulatory action in the US and UK, including a £96m HMRC tax assessment relating to BGC’s partnership scheme. I believe the true tax exposure is substantially higher.
I also reported to the FBI and financial regulators matters involving Cantor Fitzgerald’s Relief Fund and BGC/Cantor’s annual 9/11 Charity Day.
The personal consequences of whistleblowing, and the retaliation I say followed, have been devastating for my family and me.
Mother Jones previously reported that documents I uncovered revealed a years-long business tie between Howard Lutnick, Cantor Fitzgerald and Jeffrey Epstein through AdFin, including a 2018 exchange in which Lutnick and Epstein discussed the company directly:

🚨 BREAKING ROMANIA — NEW DIICOT INVESTIGATION INVOLVING CĂLIN GEORGESCU AS GEORGE SIMION STANDS BY HIM
Another major development is unfolding in Romania this morning.
Romanian prosecutors have launched a new investigation involving allegations of organised criminal activity and aggravated fraud, with DIICOT confirming five searches and alleged losses exceeding €1.1 million.
The official DIICOT statement does not name Călin Georgescu.
However, multiple Romanian news organisations, citing judicial sources, report that Georgescu is among those targeted by the investigation and that investigators took him to his Mogoșoaia home while a search was carried out.
Let me make something absolutely clear:
These are allegations. No guilt has been established. Georgescu is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
And George Simion has wasted no time responding.
The AUR leader publicly declared:
“Any of us could be next. Stop the abuses! Romania is a dictatorship!!!!”
Whatever conclusions people ultimately draw about this investigation, Simion's reaction answers one important political question this morning.
He is not abandoning Călin Georgescu.
Only days ago I sat down personally with George Simion in Dubrovnik.
I have continued to follow events in Romania extremely closely, and I have received messages, information and footage from Romanians who want the outside world to keep watching what is happening in their country.
I am watching.
The allegations against Georgescu must be tested through a fair and transparent legal process.
The evidence must determine the outcome — not political pressure, not media narratives and not guilt by accusation.
And the Romanian people deserve complete transparency about what is now taking place.
I will continue following this developing story closely.
