Yep. Pretty much everyone has had COVID, they just don’t realize it.
And all those new health conditions hitting people 10-20 younger than normal? Yep. Long COVID.
Anthropic and OpenAI better get public before more people figure out the open source models are now proper replacements.
BREAKING: Revolut moved ~2,000 engineers onto self-hosted GLM for coding and pushed Claude Code and Codex to the exception list.
Per David Abitbol, who leads AI ops there: 56 Nvidia B200s, a blended 30 cents per million tokens, roughly a tenth of what they paid Anthropic and OpenAI. Engineering lead time improved 70%.
Here's the part that matters: the gains showed up when tokens stopped being rationed. Engineers quit saving AI for the hard tickets and pointed it at everything.
Frontier models become the exception, open weights become the default. That's a pricing problem for every lab heading to IPO.

Would you move your team off frontier APIs if the bill dropped 90%?

AI's finding holes faster than humans ship patches.
@levelsio took his PHP sites offline. He's right: this won't stay a PHP story. AI exploits will hit every language, framework and server.
"Patching when back at the office" is too slow. Get agents to own the first hour.
Some people say this will be the end of PHP
I don't think so because these AI-assisted vulnerability exploits will now increasingly happen to any language, any framework, any server software etc.
I mean Node patched a high security vulnerability this week too
A new era of infinite cat and mouse games between people assisted by super intelligent AI trying to hack every single app, site and server and on the other side companies trying to defend themselves from it also assisted by AI
A new era of cybersecurity has begun
A true legend.
Sir Patrick Stewart reportedly demanded these 3 important things for his final return as Professor X in Avengers: Doomsday.
After portraying Charles Xavier for more than two decades, Stewart became synonymous with one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.
And with his return marking another chapter in his extraordinary journey, there are 3 things that would make this appearance truly meaningful:
• A meaningful farewell to Professor X - After years of portraying Charles Xavier, his character deserves more than a brief nostalgic appearance. His final chapter should carry the emotional weight of everything he represented to the X-Men.
• One final encounter with Magneto - The complicated friendship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr has always been the emotional heart of the X-Men. Seeing their relationship revisited one last time would be a fitting tribute to their legacy.
• A moment that defines his legacy - Professor X deserves to be remembered not just as a powerful mutant, but as the man who spent his life fighting for peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. His final appearance should reflect that conviction.
And perhaps most importantly, Charles Xavier deserves to leave behind a legacy that inspires the next generation of mutants.
Sir Patrick Stewart didn’t just portray Professor X.
For an entire generation, he became the face and soul of the character.

An API key is a credit card for compute now.
@gregisenberg on the Railway hack: the attackers went after the AI keys. Every company running agents sits on a pile of them.
Give every agent its own key, a hard spend cap and an alert. How many keys are your agents holding tonight?
I think we’ll see a lot more of this.
The attackers were going after the AI keys stored on Railway, because an API key is basically a credit card for compute now.
Every company running agents is sitting on a pile of these keys!
here’s the 10 minute fix. rotate every key tonight, set a hard monthly spend limit in each AI dashboard, give every agent its own key, and turn on usage alerts so you know the second something spikes.
someone should build the tool that finds every AI key a company has, rotates them every week and pings you when spend looks weird. charge $99 a month. every startup running agents needs it yesterday.

Revenue shouldn't be a dirty word.
@HarryStebbings says VCs want either a great story with no revenue or $100M+ ARR, and amazing companies fall through the cracks in between.
AI-native companies can sell from week one. Build so the customers tell the story.
Venture capital is more broken than ever today.
VCs don’t want revenue. It is a dirty word.
Or it is until $100M ARR+ and a clear breakout winner.
So you need to tell a really compelling story in a hot market, with no revenue, because hey, then there is nothing for the HBS grad VC to scrutinise pointlessly.
Or you want $100M+ growing fast where the VC can spend no time on your data because it is “hot” and fight endlessly for a scrap of the round.
So many amazing companies are falling through the cracks. It is sad.
The mimicry of the venture market is letting us down right now.
It is time for a generation of “pickers” true artisans to rise up.

COMPUTER ENGINEERING WAS AT 2.3% UNEMPLOYMENT TWO YEARS EARLIER
This list is accurate. It is the New York Fed's latest data by major, covering grads aged 22 to 27 in 2024.

Many of you know I’ve been a Trekkie since I first watched the Original Series as a child. Some of you may have even heard me wax on over the Roddenberry vision of a future society based on the abundance we now enjoy.
Today, I reflect on the magnificent contribution of one actor in the franchise who’s art has, without my quite realizing it at the time, quite literally molded and shaped the person I have become, the person I aspire to be.
Sir Patrick Stewart’s origins mirrored my own early love of Shakespeare and my appreciation for wielding the spoken word with purpose, the art and power of drama to shape culture and ethics and to answer to power.
His portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Captain of the Starship Enterprise, is in the finest tradition of the dramatic arts, an inspiration that should instruct all of us to reach for, and build, a better future for humanity.
Here’s but a brief glimpse of the man, the fictional character, and his vision of a magnificent future. I am certain that if more people all over the world studied his works, the long arc of history would bend a little more closely towards equality, honor, mercy, and justice.
I salute you, Sir Patrick Stewart. Rest in Peace. May we all follow your example and boldly go towards a better future for all.

AI is sometimes better than you and sometimes not. Knowing which, task by task, is now the core work skill.

My new book, Co-Existence, is out today. It is a guide to how to live & work in a world where AI is sometimes, but not always, better than you.

Perplexity Computer now runs fully local on a Mac. No cloud inference, no WiFi.
When the agent lives on your own machine, privacy stops being a policy and becomes physics.
Local or cloud: where would you let an agent touch your files?
Features can be copied. Interactions can't.
Usage creates data no one else has, usage data improves the product, which then draws more usage in a virtuous circle.
When we build companies at the Foundry, the first design doc is the learning loop, not the feature list.
What makes a durable company in 2026?
“The companies that are more durable are the ones that are creating a data loop where usage creates data that no one else has.
The data makes the product better, the product attracts more usage, and you create that virtuous cycle.
Someone can copy the features, but they do not have all the interactions that you have.” @dittycheria
