You lock your front door every night. Do you lock your digital one? There is a ghost in the machine, and it is looking for a way in — through an app you stopped using, a password you reused, a login page that almost looked right. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so run the audit. Three steps, ten minutes, tonight. 1. Audit your app permissions. Open privacy settings on your phone and revoke location, microphone, and camera from every app that does not need them to work. 2. Turn on passkeys. Start with email, bank, and cloud storage. A passkey is nothing a phishing page can copy and nothing a breach can resell. 3. Check what already leaked. Run your email through a breach checker, change every password it flags, and add two-factor on the accounts that matter. That is ten minutes of hygiene.
