The plane crash in Florida today took nine lives and brought back a story I cannot get off my mind. Only a few people know it, and I have never told it before.
In early 2021, around the time of Snowpocalypse, a very large Christian ministry in Tennessee invited me to meet with them and talk to their congregation about relocating to Texas and supporting Texas independence. They wanted to fly me out on their private plane. I really didn’t know much about them, but anyone who knows me knows that I’d talk to a fencepost about TEXIT if I thought it would sit still long enough.
Our security chief at the time, the late and inimitable Dan Armour, was an aviation nut with a background in the field, so he exercised every caution. He researched the plane’s maintenance record, the pilot, everything he could. I don’t remember exactly what he found. However, I remember the result. He didn’t like what he saw, and he refused to sign off on the trip.
So I didn’t go.
A few short months later, that exact same plane went down about two minutes after takeoff on its way to Florida. All seven people on board were killed.
I can’t tell you that what he found had anything to do with that morning. Perhaps it didn’t. What I can tell you is that my friend who knew airplanes and, for some reason, wanted to make sure that I lived to see independence told me no, and I listened.
Since seeing the crash footage, which is unavoidable on social media, I cannot shake this story from my mind. Maybe the only way to do so is to finally tell it.
I’m praying for the nine who died today and for their families, and for the seven who died in 2021 and theirs.
With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting. Comfort those who mourn them, O Lord, for Thou art a good God and lovest mankind.
Memory eternal.

The slow-motion of Learjet accident in Florida.
If you watch it with the audio synced to the public flight data, she says that when they hit 10,000 feet. She says "we're out of ten" which is a common pilot term. She's saying they just blew through ten thousand, which at their rate of descent is critically low.
She was relaying to ATC her ever increasing rate of descent, even her angle of bank. She knew exactly what her altitude was.
The last report she gave was that she was descending at over 20,000 feet/minute.
Process that: nearly 4 miles a minute straight down. She was hyper aware of her orientation, descent rate, etc.
They were decending into a thunderstorm. Violent winds caused them to go into a high speed stall while in a 60 degree bank which caused an overspeed condition where essentially they started moving so fast that their control surfaces were useless.
There is absolutely no wreckage around that crater. Everything was obliterated. Brutal.
They are all screaming and yelling how they;re going to die and they are out of time, then complete silence.
We all fear our mortality. I would rather go out instantaneously over a drawn out disease or something that forces you to recognize your death for days and days.
These poor souls were petrified for seconds. Not days like cancer or something along those lines.
A full minute to see death rushing towards you knowing there was nothing you can do to stop it. Thinking about all the things you'll never be able to do, loved ones you'll never be able to hold again, regrets you can never fix. All with simultaneous, overwhelming, absolute terror. The moment of death may have been quick, but the rest of it was not quick at all.
Not only that but trying to also think critically to try and save your life, trying to dig deep into your training. Panicking even more. Then realizing it’s getting to where it’s too late. More panic. Boom. Sad to think about.

That night Prof Mbithi didn’t sleep and was in his office by seven in the morning.
He found the PS for Treasury and the PS for Agriculture including PS Wilfred Kimalat waiting for him with a bail-out proposal for KCC which he was supposed to approve.
He needed not ask who had sent them to him.
One day he sat with moi to do cabinet reshuffle and felt proud they had done a good job.
When he got to the office he switched on the radio to listen to one o’clock news.
The first news bulletin announced he had been fired. When he tried to call Moi he found all the lines had been disconnected.
The guy became a prophet.😂😂💔....2/2

Incase you missed this...😂😂😂
Professor Philip Muinde Mbithi was the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nairobi when President Moi called him one morning in the late 1991 and told him he wanted to appoint him the Head of the Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet with immediate effect. The only few questions the professor asked were on what was expected of him, whom he would be reporting to and how much latitude he had in his new job.
‘You will be directly answerable to me.
You are not to receive orders from anybody else except myself.
I will be telling all Cabinet ministers in your presence that henceforth they discuss all government matters with you at Harambee House. It will be them to come to your office not the other way round', the President told him in a tone of finality.
A cabinet meeting was held and Moi repeated the same in presence of all ministers.
The first sign that something was rotten in Denmark came when then chairman of the Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC), Mark Kiptarbei Too, went to see Prof Mbithi with a request that the government bails out the milk-processing company which had been privatised after it had been looted dry when it was a State corporation.
Prof Mbithi told Mark Too that it might be difficult to justify public funding of the KCC now that it was a private company.
However, he directed that KCC liaise with the Agriculture ministry and a Cabinet Paper be written for discussion at that level.
The Cabinet Paper came and the KCC request was unanimously declined by a Cabinet meeting chaired by the President.
But a few days later, Prof Mbithi received a call at about 11.00pm in the night.
Only one person called on that phone at that particular hour.
‘Your Excellency Sir’, Prof Mbithi said when he picked up the phone.
'Professor, huyu sio Moi.
Ni Mark Too.
I am here with Mzee and he is angry that you’re refusing to help KCC against his wishes.
He has told me to tell you that you be in your office at 7.00am tommorow morning and resolve the issue with your people'.....1/2

“Everyone who hears this is going to think it’s illegal,” Robinson explained, before discussing the differences between U.S. email marketing regulations and Europe’s GDPR.
The video offers a glimpse into Robinson’s entrepreneurial mindset and the business he built.

The craziest thing about this story is that the 86 yr mum allegedly caught her granddaughter and the boyfriend in a compromising position, ordered them out, then was found with a deep neck wound, while her daughter (the former “Who’s Smarter Now?” host) and brother were reportedly trying to clean the scene.
POLICE DETAIN former 'Who's Smarter Now?' host Regina Re, three others for 10 days following brutal murder of her 86-year-old mother Dorita Lasinder Macharia in Loresho, Nairobi. nation.africa/kenya/news/reg…

I've watched a lot of documentaries about near-death experiences. In most accident stories, people say their souls left their bodies right before impact, so they felt no pain and watched everything happening from outside their bodies. Just wanted to point that out.

The horizon rising up to meet them. They's lost spacial orientation and when she looked up from the panel and saw their position and orientation, she called it out.
She did her job until the last moment.

She knew they were about to crash and under extreme duress, said so. Likely as they burst through the cloud-base at close to Mach speed and saw the ground coming fast, that was likely the natural reaction since she was not in control and the man pilot was.
But I, you and others can't claim to know anyones thoughts, let alone those who have died.
We will never truly know, so any speculation is complete third party here-say and will be used to clickbait for weeks on posts.
Pray to Jesus for their souls as a Christian instead, that the best way to post and witness over this terrible unavoidable crash.

Jack was desperately trying to get the nose up in an airplane with mechanical controls while referencing the instruments. He was likely pulling with every ounce of his strength. She may have been trying to tell him they were out of the cloud with good visual reference (the real horizon is always a good thing)

Hearing the pilot say The Lord's Prayer in the background was heartbreaking. He knew they weren't going to make it.
I think she was telling him to look outside because she could see they were about to crash since they'd gotten below the clouds. She may have been holding out some hope until then.
Heartbreaking and terrifying. Praying for all of their families.

Because pilots are trained to keep their eyes on the instrument panel, they actually look out the window less than you think. It's not like driving....
