It is understandable that the average person thinks closing the "Department of Education" is a bad idea largely because of its name. If its name more accurately described its actual function, they'd be in favor of closing the "Department of Indoctrination".

Did my first fret dressing on my Tele. Bought it 16 years ago. It is the only guitar I've owned that didn't need fretwork right out of the box. They don't make guitars like that anymore.

Geesh! @Brother_Intl thanks for nothing. The magenta cartridge in my HL-4570CDW just exploded all over the printer! That printer has had light use too. What a mess! The toner is a carcinogen too, right?

I was watching someone live stream the eclipse. There was some idiot with a cell phone behind her that had the flashlight feature on during totality. Once in a life time totality experience ruined.

Just learned Dave Wagner of Crow died last march. Another part of my childhood gone. I always thought of Crow as an "FM Radio" band managed by "AM Radio" management. For example, adding horns to 'Evil Woman'. Crow did not have a horn section. 'Crow by Crow' great album.

Smoke update: the bubble of clear air we enjoyed yesterday is gone. The smoke is back. That clear bubble came off the Lake and pushed the smoke just far enough away I was able to work in the yard all afternoon.

Smoke update: I can see blue sky over the Lake and the winds appears to be bringing that clearing onto land. The sun is out enough to cast clear shadows for the first time in a couple of days.

The smoke was thick yesterday but it was apparently higher in the sky. I could not smell/feel it yesterday. Today, went out to fill the bird bath. Could smell it and throat felt scratchy. Very bad out there right now.

Lots of smoke in the air today. An hour ago it was almost like twilight in the middle of the day. A little lighter now but still unhealthy.

I spent a large portion of my youth acquiring marketable skills. It turns out being a moron is actually a requirement for some careers. I could have saved a lot of effort and gone into politics. Just sell your soul, do what you are told and you are set for life.
