NBC News just broke an important story: Medicare may reverse coverage for DCISionRT, a genomic test that helps women with Stage Zero breast cancer (DCIS) know whether they'll actually benefit from radiation. The decision is expected July 17. It hits Medicare beneficiaries directly, and private insurers tend to follow Medicare's lead, so millions more women could lose access to this kind of personalized care. I didn't learn about this test until after my own radiation treatment for DCIS. Once I saw what it could have told me, I started telling everyone I could, which led me to partner with @PreludeDx , the makers of DCISionRT, as a patient advocate. Grateful to NBC News and reporter Gretchen Morgenson for this reporting. Cancer patients deserve coverage for the most advanced tests available.
