๐โ๏ธ Watchmen Series | Knowing Christ. Making Christ Known.
โ๏ธ A teaching that makes the devil an honest man and God a deceiver has not "gone deeper" into Scripture. It has turned Scripture upside down.
โ๏ธ The pulpit is not a place for clever shock lines. It is a place where every claim must be tested by the Word (Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1).
โ๏ธ Where a teaching contradicts the revealed character of God, correction is not unkindness. It is love for the sheep.
โ๏ธ We will face the hard texts honestly. A rebuttal that dodges 1 Kings 22 and Ezekiel 14:9 is not worth reading.
๐ฆ PURPOSE AND METHOD
This article examines statements made by false prophet and sorcerer Uebert Angel in a video clip, transcribed with timestamps for the SLW archive. The author personally watched the clip and attests the transcription as an eyewitness. The quotations below are therefore primary testimony of what was said, not hearsay. The original link and upload details are to be added to the archive record so that every reader may verify the clip for themselves.
Our task is to test the *teaching* by Scripture, not to trade insults. We speak to the claims that were made, not to the private state of any soul. The standard is the Word, and the Word alone.
๐ *The line is crossed when a false preacher stops disputing a hard text and begins to reassign to God the very character the Bible says He cannot have.*
๐ *We are not after a victory over a man. We are after the freedom of souls who have been told that the God who cannot lie is a liar.*
๐ฆ SECTION I: THE CLAIMS UNDER EXAMINATION
๐ค Six claims, as they appear in the transcription
๐ง 1. *"The devil doesn't speak lies."* (0:00โ0:10)
๐ง 2. *"Because God also lies."* (0:13โ0:17)
๐ง 3. God "persuades" someone with lies so that he prevails, described as "a lie from the Lord." (0:31โ0:41; 1:10โ1:19)
๐ง 4. Jesus gave bread to Judas, and the devil entered. The speaker asks what caused the devil to enter. (1:19โ1:35)
๐ง 5. *"Let the weak say I am strong"* is a lie that we call confession. (1:35โ1:53)
๐ง 6. *"You have to lie in order to be strong."* (1:53โ1:59)
๐ *Every one of these claims must stand or fall in the chapter and verse on which it leans. We take them in order.*
๐ฆ SECTION II: "THE DEVIL DOESN'T SPEAK LIES" โ ANSWERED BY JESUS HIMSELF
๐ค The diagnosis of the Son of God
John 8:44 (KJV): *"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."*
๐ง 1. Jesus says there is *no truth* in the devil. The claim says he does not lie. Both cannot stand.
๐ง 2. Jesus says that when the devil speaks a lie, he speaks "of his own." Lying is his native language, not a borrowed one.
๐ง 3. Jesus calls him "the father of it." He is the originator of the lie. To deny that he lies is to contradict the diagnosis of the Lord.
๐ง 4. The devil can repeat true sentences or use partial truths. That does not make him truthful. A deceiver who mixes truth with poison is still a deceiver.
๐ค The record, from Eden to the end
๐ง 1. Genesis 3:1โ5 โ the serpent questions God's word and contradicts His warning: *"Ye shall not surely die."* That is the original lie, and Eve's fall.
๐ง 2. Matthew 4:5โ7 โ the devil quotes Scripture in the wilderness, bending Psalm 91 to pull Christ off the path of obedience.
๐ง 3. 2 Corinthians 11:14 โ Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
๐ง 4. Revelation 12:9 โ he is "the deceiver of the whole world."
๐ *To polish the devil's reputation is not deeper theology. It is a rewriting of the enemy's file in the enemy's favour.*
๐ฅ *The one Christ calls the father of lies cannot be defended as a non-liar without contradicting Christ.*
๐ฆ SECTION III: "GOD ALSO LIES" โ THE GRAVEST CLAIM AND THE CLEAREST REFUTATION
๐ค Scripture says God *cannot* lie, not merely that He does not
๐ง 1. Numbers 23:19 โ *"God is not a man, that he should lieโฆ hath he said, and shall he not do it?"*
๐ง 2. Titus 1:2 โ *"God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began."* Note the strength of the phrase: not "will not," but "cannot."
๐ง 3. Hebrews 6:17โ18 โ *"It was impossible for God to lie."* Our strong consolation rests on two immutable things, His promise and His oath.
๐ง 4. 2 Timothy 2:13 โ *"He cannot deny himself."* Truth is not a rule God obeys. It is who He is.
๐ง 5. John 14:6 and 17:17 โ Christ *is* the truth, and God's Word *is* truth.
๐ง 6. 1 John 1:5 โ *"God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."* 1 John 2:21 โ *"No lie is of the truth."*
๐ง 7. Psalm 119:160 โ *"Thy word is true from the beginning."*
๐ง 8. Proverbs 12:22 and 6:16โ19 โ lying lips are an abomination to the LORD. He hates what He does not practise.
๐ค The collapse that follows if God lies
๐ง 1. His promise of salvation, forgiveness, resurrection and eternal life becomes unreliable.
๐ง 2. His warnings of judgment may be bluff.
๐ง 3. His Word cannot be trusted at any point, including every verse the preacher quotes to prove his case.
๐ง 4. Revelation 21:8 and 22:15 place all liars outside the city. God would stand condemned by His own standard.
๐ *A God who lies voids every sermon ever preached, including the one that makes the claim.*
๐ฅ *Remove the truthfulness of God and the preacher saws off the very branch he sits on.*
๐ฆ SECTION IV: THE HARD TEXTS โ 1 KINGS 22, EZEKIEL 14:9 AND 2 THESSALONIANS 2
This is the heart of the matter. The language of "persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so" comes from 1 Kings 22. A faithful rebuttal must read it honestly and in full.
๐ค What the text actually says
1 Kings 22:22โ23 (KJV): *"And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee."*
We will not pretend the text says only that God watched passively. The vision is a heavenly-council scene in which the Lord authorises the lying spirit's role in the judgment of Ahab, and verse 23 says the LORD "hath put" the spirit in the prophets' mouths. That is the plain wording. The question is what it means, and whether it makes God a liar.
๐ค Who is judged, and why
๐ง 1. Ahab surrounded himself with about four hundred prophets who told him what he wanted to hear (22:6).
๐ง 2. He admitted he hated Micaiah *"for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil"* (22:8). Ahab did not lack truth. He despised it.
๐ง 3. This is the king of Naboth's vineyard, of idolatry and innocent blood, already under a pronounced sentence (1 Kings 21:19โ24).
๐ง 4. The vision is therefore a courtroom, not a recruitment of liars. A man who loved flattery is handed over to flattery.
๐ค Who spoke the truth
๐ง 1. The lie came through the spirit and Ahab's false prophets.
๐ง 2. The truth came from God, through Micaiah, who revealed the whole scene to Ahab's face and was jailed for it (22:26โ27).
๐ง 3. Ahab was *warned*, went anyway, and died exactly as Micaiah said (22:34โ38). The word of the LORD stood. The lie served the verdict.
๐ค The same pattern elsewhere
๐ง 1. Ezekiel 14:9 (KJV) โ *"If the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet."* This is stated of those who had set up idols in their hearts and still came to inquire of the Lord (14:1โ8). It is judgment on persistent idolatry.
๐ง 2. 2 Thessalonians 2:10โ12 โ God sends strong delusion on those who *"received not the love of the truth."* Rejection of truth comes first. Delusion is the sentence.
๐ง 3. Romans 1:24โ28 โ *"God gave them up."* This is judicial handing-over.
๐ง 4. Exodus 4:21 and 8:15 โ God hardens Pharaoh's heart, and Pharaoh hardens his own. Divine sovereignty and human responsibility are held together.
๐ค The distinction that matters
Scripture does attribute to the Lord the judicial sending and handing-over of rebellious people to deception. We state that openly. But there is a vast difference between two things:
๐ง 1. *God, as righteous Judge, hands a persistent rebel over to the deception he has chosen.* Scripture teaches this.
๐ง 2. *God, by nature, is a liar whose promises cannot be trusted.* Scripture explicitly denies this (Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18).
A judge may sentence a criminal without becoming a criminal. The hand of judgment is not the character of the instrument. To build a doctrine that God is deceitful from one judicial vision, while silencing the dozen texts that say He cannot lie, is to let one hard verse erase the testimony of many clear ones. Sound interpretation holds all of them together.
๐ *God may judge the lover of lies by giving him over to lies. That is justice. It is not God lying.*
๐ฅ *The Lord who sent a true prophet to expose the lie is not the author of that lie.*
๐ฆ SECTION V: JUDAS AND THE SOP โ A MISREAD CAUSE AND EFFECT
John 13:26โ27 (KJV): *"โฆhe gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly."*
The claim implies that the bread, or Christ's act, is what caused the devil to enter. The Gospels do not support this.
๐ง 1. *The betrayal was already in Judas's heart.* John 13:2: the devil had *"now put into the heart of Judas Iscariotโฆ to betray him,"* before the sop was given.
๐ง 2. *Satan's influence is recorded earlier still.* Luke 22:3โ4: *"Then entered Satan into Judas,"* and he went to the chief priests to plan the betrayal.
๐ง 3. *Judas was already compromised.* John 12:4โ6 shows him as a thief who kept the bag. John 6:64 shows Jesus knew from the beginning who would betray Him.
๐ง 4. *The other disciples ate at the same table.* Nothing entered them. The sequence in John 13:27 records a deepening, after Judas persisted in his course, not a mechanism in the bread.
๐ง 5. *The sop was a gesture of honour at the table and a last appeal* (compare Psalm 41:9). We take care not to claim more than the text says about its precise symbolism. The secure point is that the text does not teach the bread as a spiritual trigger.
๐ง 6. *Responsibility is placed on Judas.* Matthew 26:24: *"Woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed."*
๐ *Sequence is not cause. Christ extended mercy to a man already opened to the enemy.*
๐ฅ *The bread was mercy. The betrayal was Judas's own.*
๐ฆ SECTION VI: "LET THE WEAK SAY, I AM STRONG" โ FAITH IS NOT A LIE
Joel 3:10 (KJV): *"Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong."*
๐ค The context
๐ง 1. Joel 3:9โ14 is the gathering of the nations in the valley of decision, at the day of the LORD.
๐ง 2. It is a *call to arms*. The weak are summoned to take their place, with the Lord Himself as the refuge and strength of His people (3:16).
๐ง 3. The words are a declaration of resolve in a day of divine action. They are not a universal instruction to deny facts or invent abilities.
๐ค Confession is agreement with God
๐ง 1. The Greek word *homologeล* means to "say the same thing." Biblical confession is saying what God has said. That is truth-telling.
๐ง 2. 2 Corinthians 12:9โ10 โ Paul acknowledges his weakness and glories in it, *"for when I am weak, then am I strong."* That is honest, not deceptive.
๐ง 3. Philippians 4:13 โ *"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."* The confidence is in Christ, not in a false claim about oneself.
๐ง 4. Romans 4:17 โ God *"calleth those things which be not as though they were."* The subject is *God*. It is not a blank cheque for people to announce any outcome as guaranteed.
๐ค Where the line is drawn
๐ง 1. *Faith* stands on a promise God has made.
๐ง 2. *Presumption* manufactures claims God never made.
๐ง 3. *A lie* states what is false without divine warrant. Ephesians 4:25 and Colossians 3:9 bind every believer to put away lying.
We say this with care: confession must stay subject to Scripture. It may not be used to excuse dishonest claims, to deny real facts, or to promise outcomes God has not promised.
๐ *Biblical faith does not require us to lie about reality. It calls us to trust God in the middle of reality.*
๐ฅ *No one has to lie in order to be strong. We trust the One who is.*
๐ฆ SECTION VII: "YOU HAVE TO LIE IN ORDER TO BE STRONG" โ WHERE THE ERROR LEADS
As witnessed and transcribed, this statement is the fruit of the whole line of argument: if the devil is honest, God lies, and strength requires lying, then truth stops being the foundation of faith and becomes a tool.
๐ง 1. *It inverts the gospel.* The gospel is "the word of truth" (Ephesians 1:13) and the Holy Spirit is "the Spirit of truth" who guides into all truth (John 16:13).
๐ง 2. *It teaches people to doubt God's word.* If even Scripture contains divine lies, no promise can be leaned on.
๐ง 3. *It opens the door to manipulation.* If lying is how the strong operate, the pulpit becomes a place where anything is justified by outcome.
๐ง 4. *It breaks the apostolic pattern.* Paul renounced *"the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth"* (2 Corinthians 4:2).
๐ *Strength comes from the Lord, never from falsehood.*
๐ฆ SECTION VIII: TESTING THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHING
๐ค What Scripture requires of every congregation
๐ง 1. *The Berean standard.* Acts 17:11 commends those who *"searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."* This applies to every preacher, however famous.
๐ง 2. *Try the spirits.* 1 John 4:1. Also 1 Thessalonians 5:21 โ *"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."*
๐ง 3. *Signs do not validate error.* Deuteronomy 13:1โ5 warns that wonders do not prove a teacher who leads people away from the Lord as He has revealed Himself.
๐ง 4. *Sound doctrine must be held fast.* Titus 1:9 calls for holding the faithful word so as to exhort and to convince those who contradict.
๐ง 5. *Public teaching may be answered publicly.* Paul confronted Peter openly (Galatians 2:11โ14), yet the servant of the Lord must correct with patience and gentleness (2 Timothy 2:24โ25).
๐ค The verdict of the text
We judge the *teaching* as witnessed and transcribed. By the plain testimony of Scripture:
๐ง 1. It contradicts John 8:44 on the devil.
๐ง 2. It contradicts Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18 on God.
๐ง 3. It builds on 1 Kings 22 while ignoring the context of divine judgment and the true prophet who exposed the lie.
๐ง 4. It reads John 13 while ignoring John 13:2 and Luke 22:3.
๐ง 5. It reads Joel 3:10 while ignoring its prophetic and military setting.
๐ *A message that makes Satan truthful and God deceptive fails the test of the prophets and the apostles.*
๐ฆ SECTION IX: TO THE DECEIVED, THE TROUBLED AND THE SEARCHING โ THE AWAKENING CALL
๐ค To the believer who was shaken
๐ง 1. If your conscience flinched when you heard "God also lies," that was the Spirit of truth guarding you. Honour that.
๐ง 2. Do not abandon your faith because of a provocative statement. Return to the Scriptures and read Numbers 23, Titus 1, Hebrews 6, John 8, 1 Kings 22, Ezekiel 14 and 2 Thessalonians 2 *in context*.
๐ง 3. You may confess God's promises over your life with a clean conscience, so long as they are His promises and not manufactured claims.
๐ค To the one who follows this teaching
๐ง 1. Love for a minister does not require agreement with every claim.
๐ง 2. Ask for the passage. Read the verses before it and after it. Compare Scripture with Scripture.
๐ง 3. If a teaching cannot survive the chapter it relies on, do not stake your soul on it, however confidently it is delivered.
๐ง 4. Come back to the Christ who said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life"* (John 14:6). In Him there is no deceit. His forgiveness is real. His promise cannot fail.
๐ค To the soul that has been burned
You may have been told that God is not trustworthy, or that you must pretend in order to be strong. That is not the gospel. The God of Scripture says, *"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). Weakness is not a shame to be covered with pretence. It is the place where His grace is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9).
๐ค To fellow ministers
๐ง 1. Silence in the face of public error is not humility. It is neglect of the watch.
๐ง 2. Correct firmly, with accuracy and with gentleness. The aim is not to win a contest. It is to guard the gospel and free the captives.
๐ *Awakening begins where deception ends, and deception ends where the Word of God is received in love.*
๐ฆ SECTION X: WHAT WE AFFIRM
๐ง 1. God is truthful and faithful. Scripture says He cannot lie.
๐ง 2. The devil is a liar and the father of lies, by the word of Christ.
๐ง 3. God may judicially hand rebellious people over to deception, and these hard texts are to be acknowledged and read in context. He is never its author by nature.
๐ง 4. Faith trusts what God has said. It does not invent promises or excuse deliberate falsehood.
๐ง 5. Believers are commanded to put away lying and speak truth.
๐ง 6. Every teaching must be tested by Scripture, whoever the teacher.
๐ *"God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."* โ **1 John 1:5 (KJV)**
๐ฅ *The Lord who cannot lie has spoken. The only safe place to stand is on His Word, and not on anyone's cleverness about it.*
๐ค๐ฆ CONCLUSION
As witnessed and transcribed, the statements cross the line from difficult exegesis into contradiction of the revealed character of God. The claim that the devil does not lie contradicts John 8:44. The claim that God lies contradicts Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18. The lying-spirit narrative, the sop given to Judas and Joel 3:10 each require contextual interpretation and give no licence for the sweeping conclusion that God is a liar or that believers must lie to be strong.
A faithful rebuttal does not evade the hard wording of 1 Kings 22 or Ezekiel 14:9. It reads them beside the explicit declarations of God's truthfulness, and it holds the line: *judicial handing-over is not deceitful character.*
โ๏ธ *WATCHMEN WARNING: Never allow a preacher's interpretation to overrule the clear testimony of Scripture. Test the teaching. Examine the context. Hold fast to the truth.*
๐๏ธ *Apostle Joel's Blessing for Every Reader*
May the Spirit of truth open blind eyes, break the grip of every deception, and anchor your heart to the Word that cannot fail. May the deceived be awakened, the weary be restored, and every saint stand in truth alone.
๐๏ธ For the glory of Christ alone, until He comes.
