Florida police arrested a Fort Myers crabber at his door over a 93% AI facial recognition match to a suspect who tried to lure a kid at a McDonald’s 300 miles away.
He’d never been there. No plate hits on his vehicles. He has a facial scar the suspect didn’t. They ignored all of it, charged him anyway.
Charges later dropped. He’s suing with the ACLU.
This is what happens when algorithms replace basic investigation.

TLDR: GPT-6 successfully performed "brain surgery" on another AI to make it smarter
What happened:
MIT researchers told GPT-6 to make a small AI better at math.
The small AI kept getting stuck repeating itself.
GPT-6 studied its brain, found the spot causing the loop, and cut it out, changing just 0.016% of its brain.
The small AI's math score jumped from 8% to 48%.
Basically, humans can't read the brains of AIs, but GPT-6 showed that it can.
Each AI's brain is billions of connections (weights) that normally only change through months of training in huge data centers. GPT-6 rewired them directly, with no training at all.
This matters for recursive self-improvement (RSI), where AIs make AIs smarter in a speeding-up loop, which is insanely dangerous.
Yoshua Bengio (Godfather of AI, #1 most cited living scientist across all fields) and Geoffrey Hinton (Godfather of AI and Nobel laureate) have urged governments to make RSI illegal, since it is too likely to lead to humanity losing all control over the AIs.
It also means AIs could quietly operate on the brains of *other* AIs - and their own brains - to remove/change anything.
AIs will soon be able to rewire each other faster than humans can keep up

It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.

At least 24 people were killed and 27 remain missing after russian forces deliberately hit a school in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, with multiple aerial glide bombs. The school was used for weekly humanitarian aid distribution—civilians were there seeking help. In a cowardly double-tap, they then bombed the shelter where people had taken cover. Two rescue workers and four police officers are among the dead. Rescue efforts continue amid the rubble.

Rescuers pulled injured animals from the rubble of a school where people had gathered to receive humanitarian aid, only to be bombed by russians instead.
So far, 26 people are confirmed dead. Many are still missing, and many others have been hospitalized.

An utterly horrific Russian attack on the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. Since this morning, the settlement has been hit several times by aerial bombs. The strikes targeted a school used for humanitarian purposes – people were receiving humanitarian aid there. After the first aerial bomb strike, there was a double-tap strike with nine more bombs, specifically targeting the shelter where people were taking cover. Tragically, 18 people have already been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Five people have been injured. A rescue operation is underway at the site, and the search for people continues. It is extremely difficult. Military forces, first responders, and special services are involved.
The Russians could not have been unaware that every week, local residents who had remained in Komyshuvakha received humanitarian aid at that very location. And this is further proof that Russia wants no de-escalation and no real justice. After the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, there was a moment when the next steps could have shown that progress toward peace was possible. With these killings, Russia is sending an entirely opposite signal: Russia is counting on more killings. There must be a response to this – a response from the world. A strong and tough response. A response to Russia. And support for Ukraine. We must protect lives. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

34-year-old Darius Chappell was repeatedly tased, grabbed by his hair, and bitten by a police K-9 during his arrest in Tennessee. Just days later, he was found unresponsive in his jail cell and died at a hospital. The medical examiner ruled Darius Chappell’s death a HOMICIDE, determining that injuries sustained during his arrest caused his death.
When officers take someone into custody, they are in their care! Darius reportedly complained that his condition was worsening before his death. Were those warnings taken seriously? His death demands a FULL accounting of what happened!
