Nick Ferrari complained about the fact that a person claimed access to work and was given £130,000 over two years for taxi fares. Now at first glance this might seem like a lot, but I'm gonna give you a possible scenario based on personal experience.
When I went to uni between 2012 and 2015, I went to the one that was closest to my house (15.3 miles according to Google as I've just checked) I had to go in specially adapted transport that could carry my wheelchair in the back. The cost of this was £90 return per day. Given that the company I went with was the cheapest in the area and that inflation has increased prices significantly in the intervening 11 years, I don't think a figure that comes out roughly £1000 per week is completely unreasonable, depending on things like distance travelled and needs of the passenger.
Of course if they don't need specially adapted transport, the costs could be considerably lower, but without specific details on the case, it's difficult to be 100% certain. But of course Nick Ferrari went straight for "they must be travelling in a Bentley". A completely and utterly absurd proposition designed to make people angry.
Elaine is right - This is nonsense
Any home that’s clearly normally occupied cannot be “seized” after 6 months.

Can’t imagine why…

Agree with most, but same sex couples exist, so why should they be excluded?
Why more than just one couple? Why do the numbers matter?
Sorry to quote tweet but seems I’m restricted from replying direct or I wouldn’t have done it.

This is well worth a read, today of all days.

Interesting comment about Monty Don’s retirement from Garenders’ World from an account named “be nice”
Maybe @BeNiceFfs2025 should take some of their own medicine?

To be fair the bench could do a better job than him and probably has more horticultural knowledge
Good riddance to bad rubbish
No, I mean the ignorant twats who were told not to have a BBQ or do a bonfire right now and didn’t give a shit and did it anyway.
And who would have made that post never happen if they’d have taken heed of the warning.
Those twats
Are we clear now?a as

You mean the ignorant twats who treated BBQ as an emergency and ghe ignorant twats who have taken that as a reason to tie up the 999 lines?

The emergency alert was requested by fire and rescue services who are at breaking point. The military (rightly) have been called in to support.
And a timeline full of whining that it made them jump, spoiled their meal, is obvious etc
Embarrassing.
James here didn’t like me pointing out that the government warning message was to try and help prevent another Stourbridge, not to let him know it was “warm”
Don’t be like James.
This is why things are as they are. There was no total eclipse in any part of the UK yesterday, but Cath here doesn’t give a shot as long as it gets clicks.

For anyone who didn’t or couldn’t get eclipse glasses for tomorrow night’s show - a colander can work pretty well and you should get lots of crescent shadows as the moon moves across.
(Crescent pictures courtesy of The Sun - couldn’t resist that!)
Apparently none of these other years I listed had UK heatwaves, which is odd because I lived through them and 4 of them set new national records. It’s amazing how quickly some people will run and block when they realise their bullshit has been found out @checkpointminx
