The only bet worth making is the one you'd still make if nobody clapped.
It's the most complete version of my journey anyone has put down so far — and reading it back, what stands out is how many of my decisions looked wrong at the time. I'm still here.
Three years ago, everyone was working on chatbots. We started building agents that use computer desktops. Now everyone is building computer agents.
And when everyone is working on models. We work on code. Today, it becomes our core neuro-symbolic agentic infrastructure.
Chatbots → the desktop. In 2023 this was the unpopular half of the room. Everyone else built chatbots with APIs; we went after the repetitive work that the world's workers actually do all day. Unglamorous, no clean API, and exactly where the labor is. Three years later the entire industry is coming. People ask if I'm worried about copycats. I tell them copying is just the proof we're doing something right.
Models → code. This is the bet that still looks wrong today. A model gives you a different answer on every run. Fine in a chat window. Unacceptable in work. So Sai does the job once with the neural net, then turns what worked into code and runs the code from then on. Recurring tasks cost about 90% fewer tokens. It's heavy engineering and the slower path to build. It is the only approach that achieves a balance between adaptability and determinism.
The pattern started before the company did. I left my job, bought an Airstream and spent a summer driving around the US, taking investor calls from the desert on a portable wifi router. Not what a serious founder is supposed to look like either.
None of these were safe calls. What they had in common is that they came from our own DNA, not from what the room wanted to hear.
Companies die chasing something that was never theirs to begin with. Ours hasn't changed since 2023.
If you're sitting on a decision the room disagrees with: being non-consensus and wrong kills you quietly. Being consensus and right pays nothing. Early and wrong look identical from the inside — so the only test that holds up is whether you'd still make the bet in silence.
