Since the start of the year, I have closely monitored internal communications between ISSP elements in Zamfara and bandit groups. Here are a few things I have found: Islamic State Woos Bandits, Communities in Nigeria’s Northwest

So far, the communications have sought to recast the conduct of bandits through a flawed religious framework, urging them to abandon practices IS considers un-Islamic, including alcohol consumption, kidnapping, theft, cattle rustling, and ethnic violence…
Miye unhwanin haka? Terrorists have come from every religious sect, every community almost every ward of our society, regardless of what you identify with. Perhaps what would have been useful is a concerted effort to collectively denounce and reject such behaviour.

Listening to and watching @adeyanjudeji on @channelstv giving an update on the deaths of miners in Niger is both disturbing and crucial. Including Deji and his acceptance onto the committee to investigate this horrendous incident has given Nigerians the opportunity to be part of the investigation.
14 minors between the ages of 9 and 15 dying is unconscionable. People were crammed into a tiny cell with no adequate ventilation; detainees drank their urine and had to climb on each other to put their noses and mouths through the tiny opening for air. The NSCDC officials’ insistence on not opening the cell despite knowing people were dying, and the deliberate tampering with evidence by cleaning the cell, all point to a systemic problem in Nigeria.
The NSCDC’s false claim of a disease outbreak as the cause of death is also shocking.
We owe @adeyanjudeji thanks for his service on this committee.
Now, we must put pressure to ensure the committee’s recommendations are fully implemented.

4 students, one other lady k+lled as Niger gov’s convoy allegedly rams into their car
Five people, including four male students and a young woman, have lost their lives in a fatal road crash involving a vehicle in Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s convoy in Minna.
The accident occurred on Monday around Gidan Mangoro along the Minna–Bida Road when a Hilux van travelling with the governor’s convoy collided head-on with a Peugeot 206.
The Peugeot was being driven by a woman identified as Mrs Nafisa, who d+ed at the scene. She was said to be an NGO staff member, Programme Manager at Labspace and founder of Wosh Mart Service Ltd.
According to a resident, Abdullahi Musa, the crash happened at about 11:35am while Governor Bago and his team were returning from Bida, where they had paid a condolence visit to the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, over the death of Sagi Nupe Hajia Aisha.
The occupants of Nafisa’s vehicle were suspected to be postgraduate students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
Musa said, “The people in the private car d+ed instantly, while those in the government Hilux sustained serious inj¥ries with the driver dying on the spot.”
He stated that the crash resulted from wrongful overtaking by the convoy vehicle, adding that the Peugeot was on its lane when the Hilux crashed into it.
A staff member of Minna General Hospital said three victims d+ed at the scene, while two others later succumbed to inj¥ries. Some inj¥red victims were reportedly transferred to IBB Specialist Hospital for further treatment.
One occupant of the Hilux, identified as a former Niger State local government council chairman, suffered leg fractures but survived.
FRSC Sector Commander Aishat Sa’adu confirmed the crash, while police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said the incident was under investigation.
“The accident occured this morning and we are investigating it,” Abiodun said.
Terror Groups like Ansaru, JAS and ISWAP maintain social media channels through which they share propaganda, including claims of attacks. Many security networks, journalists and researchers have access to this information. Many others share this information.

Even when you disagree with an ideology, violence is never the answer. Sheikh Massusuka was highly intelligent & practised his faith by embracing religious tolerance in Islam over strife. He vehemently opposed terrorism & challenged many practices widely accepted as religious norms.
This generation may never see another voice as fearless in critically examining interpretations & practices within the Islamic faith. The government must now apprehend the perpetrators & bring them to justice to help ease tensions.
So, so sad! Allah yasa can tafi nan. Ameen Ameen.

It began with the gruesome murders of Sheikh Ja'afar Mahmud Adam in Kano and Sheikh Umar Hamza Dan-Maishiyya in Sokoto, both in 2007.
Seven years later, in 2014, Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Albani Zaria was also assassinated in Kaduna.
Today, in 2026, in a similar vein, unknown gunmen killed Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka in Katsina.
This is a very dangerous development in Northern Nigeria. Do not rejoice at these killings. Your favourite cleric is not safe either. None of us is truly safe.
May there be peace in our fatherland, Nigeria. Amin. May Allah (SWT) forgive the shortcomings of our departed loved ones, amin.
