Prices of almost all single-source cancer drug entries on the government’s revised price list remain unchanged despite the Centre’s decision to cap trade margins at 30 per cent, according to company-reported data released by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). The findings raise questions about the extent to which the measure will bring down the cost of newer, patented cancer treatments, reports Ankita Upadhyay (@ankitaup) thehindubusinessline.com/new…
For years, some cancer drugs cost up to 15 times their new price. Of the 397 brands whose price fell, 217 were at least twice as expensive as their revised price, and 120 were at least three times as expensive

A revised drug price list by the NPPA shows how the govt’s 30 per cent cap on trade margins for cancer drugs is playing out. Prices of many commonly used generic and biosimilar medicines fall by half or more. Most newer patented drugs show no change.

An information which may be very disturbing to everyone. A medical distributor of a particular injection which is used in chemotherapy, his wife was suffering from cancer. She was taking treatment in a very renowned hospital. We will not take the name of the hospital. So the dealer requested the hospital authorities, sir I am myself a dealer and to me the injection comes at Rs. 11,000 dealer price. The hospital refused to administer that injection and charged Rs. 1,30,000 for that injection. Can you show any justification for this loot, please? Why this difference? Where does the money go?

Welcome to Gujarat where you can get arrested for demanding Sunday off, 8 hours shift, better pay, etc! Migrant workers have been mercilessly exploited while the State looked away only to descend on the workers with its whole might when they fight this exploitation.
In Surat dozens of workers were detained by local police before they could start their protest demanding Sunday off, 8 hours shift, better pay, among others. They also alleged their senior leaders were arrested to suppress their agitation "Gaon Chalo Andolan" @DeccanHerald
