“Ben Allen, the jockey aboard Royal Supremacy, used the whip 10 times before the final 100m, five more than the rules allow and 12 times in total before the horse tired and finished fifth.” Just smh. So sorry, beautiful horse.

Remembering British actress VIVIEN LEIGH born 113 years ago in India. She won Best Actress Academy Awards twice for her definitive performances as Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind & as Blanche DuBois in the film version of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Concerns around the Melbourne Cup "Carnival" are centred on gambling & animal welfare. The treatment of horses (including zapping, whipping) are the dangers of racing & has been one of the key arguments against horse racing. If you place a bet, YOU are adding to animal suffering!
Before you attend #OaksDay ask yourself this question ⬇️

#MelbCupCarnival (“carnival”? which genius came up with that? Definitely not a carnival for the horses especially those excessively whipped or injured.)

No one even mentioned it at work today.
Gone are the days of fascinators and vomit. Dead horses and sweepstakes. No longer does this day stop a nation. Good riddance. #nuptothecup #youbettheydie
MELBOURNE CUP INTEREST DROPS TO RECORD LOW 📉
The race that no longer stops a nation.
"Growing disdain for gambling and animal cruelty concerns drive sliding interest in race that once ‘stopped the nation’."

Not at all interested in the #MelbourneCup racing event, and can’t help but think of the woman/super model who caused a sensation on Derby Day back in 1965, Jean Shrimpton.

@robbiewilliams I am disappointed in you for your participation in promoting gambling and animal cruelty.
NO HORSE DESERVES
TO DIE FOR GAMBLING PROFITS.
Thousands of horses are killed every year because they don't win enough money for their owners! Say #NupToTheCup and to all race meetings! #MelbourneCup
There will be lots of glitz & glamour at the Melbourne Cup but in reality they are trying to hide the horror that is horse racing! If you place a bet, you add to animal suffering. On Australian racetracks, one horse dies every 3 days! Say #NUPToTheCup and ALL horse race meetings!
Tomorrow is Melbourne Cup Day
Do u know 7 horses have died during THIS EVENT ALONE in the last decade? For starters,at 3200m the MelbCup is a long &dangerous race Most horses running have rarely raced over this distance! IF YOU PLACE A BET, YOU ADD TO ANIMAL CRUELTY
