Betty Wamaitha had KSh 5–10 million invested in a 10-acre farm in Narok. She had the spreadsheets, the projections and people on the ground managing it while she worked from Nairobi.
Then she went to the farm just before harvest. The crops were gone. So were the irrigation pipes. Everything on 10 acres had disappeared. A painful reminder that a good investment model can still fail when you cannot see what is happening on the ground.
