Let's talk about branded types.
If I were building an app where security was critical, I'd use the crap out of them.

I just read -- in the book SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME DO by Jess Hill -- about the incident in Stockholm for which Stockholm Syndrome is named, and I am royally pissed off on behalf of all women, buckle up.

Problem: In React, it's often tricky to hunt down the component that's rendering a piece of UI.
Solution: LocatorJS (A Chrome plugin)
I've been using it for the last week. It's 🔥.

Can you imagine having $48.2 billion cash on hand and YET still thinking "ah yes, those House of Fun Casino ads will grow our bottom line, let's do it"

Now my app’s product page shows gambling ads, which I’m really not OK with.
Apple shouldn’t be OK with it, either.
The App Store has corrupted such a great company so deeply. They make so much from gambling and manipulative IAPs that they don’t even see the problem anymore.
Replying to @marcoarment
@marcoarment You know what’s worse than having to pay hundreds of $$$ to try out Apple’s new ad scheme? Seeing that they’re advertising online gambling on @OvercastFM’s page on the App Store.

SVG supports `svgView(…)`, `viewBox(…)`, `preserveAspectRatio(…)`, and `transform(…)` in URL fragment identifiers 🤯
New article! SVG sprites: old-school, modern, unknown, and forgotten. It’s time to revisit the old SVG sprites trick and dig out a few alternative methods from the SVG spec and Internet archives 🧐

I just discovered you can hit / in any macOS save dialog to open a Spotlight-esque quick folder search and even use things like ~ to jump to your home folder. No clue when that was added, but a handy shortcut instead of manually navigating a deep folder hierarchy

This old chestnut! When using the logical && operator for ensure your condition always evaluates to a boolean, because some falsy values can have unintended side-effects!
Personally - I always use the inline if for React Native rather than risk app crashes 💥

With low turnover and not being extremely focused on growth, we don't hire all that often, but we have room for about 3-5 more React Native developers on our team.
One thing I’m really proud of in 2021 is we (at @infinite_red) didn’t lose a single employee all year. Developers, designers, and support staff — everyone stuck with us all year.
Must be doing something right!
Lots to improve in 2022 but I am proud of that one.
