Justin Timberlake revealed that *NSYNC’s “Gone” was originally written for MICHAEL JACKSON, who initially REJECTED it before personally calling Justin to record it as a DUET 😳👀
Justin thought Michael’s call was a PRANK and CUSSED HIM OUT before hanging up, only to realize it was actually him. He ultimately turned down the duet out of LOYALTY to *NSYNC because Michael wanted the song to feature just the two of them.
“The vocal that you hear on ‘Gone’ is basically me demoing the song to pitch to him…He goes, ‘I’ve heard this song called Gone, and I understand that you wrote it for me…I think it should be a duet between the two of us.’…I felt an allegiance to what we were at that point and I respectfully said, ‘I hope we can do something down the road, but I can’t turn my back on what I’ve already committed to with the fellas’”

Michael looked around and then said to the staff that he wanted to buy "the whole rack of this" and "the whole rack of that". I was standing by and wondering all the time what in the world he wanted to do with all those clothes in all those different sizes and colours. In the end he had bought almost the whole shop and spent more than $400.000. To me it just did not make sense at all, until I heard him talk to his assistant. He told her to let the clothes be wrapped up into little presents and gave her an address of an orphanage somewhere at the east coast of the
US. Such events happened regularly. Another time he went to a music store where he bought many instruments which were then sent to an address of a school somewhere.”

This is exactly why I don’t like TII. The more you learn about what was happening behind the scenes, the harder it is to just watch the footage and ignore the fact that Michael needed someone to look out for him.
He needed someone to put him first FOR ONCE, someone who cared about him as a person and not about how much money he could make them 💔
