ADHD, autism, learning disorders and sensory differences all affect how kids learn. Here's how schools can help neurodivergent students thrive in the classroom. childmind.org/article/how-sc…

BREAKING: Sleep and neurology researchers confirm that "morning grogginess" in ADHD is actually severe Sleep Inertia—a state where the prefrontal cortex takes up to 60 minutes longer to restore blood flow and dopamine signaling after waking up than a neurotypical brain.
If waking up your ADHD child (or yourself) at 7:00 AM feels like trying to wake up a hibernating bear who wants to fight everyone in the house, here is the science of why:
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The linked study is a conference abstract showing a statistical association between sleep inertia symptoms and adult ADHD. It does not measure or mention prefrontal cortex recovery, blood flow, dopamine signaling, or a 60-minute difference

Some of the biggest classroom management problems start with how adults respond to the smaller ones.
A student refuses to begin an assignment. You could challenge them in front of the class, repeat the direction five times, or threaten a consequence you might not follow through on.
But now the entire class is watching, and what started as a refusal to work has turned into a power struggle.
A quieter approach can accomplish more. Restate the expectation, give the student a chance to make a better choice, and follow up privately when possible. If a consequence is necessary, follow through without making it a spectacle.
Being consistent doesn't mean being confrontational. And giving students a fresh start doesn't mean ignoring what happened yesterday.
Good classroom management takes preparation, clear expectations, sound judgment, and knowing when our own reactions might make a situation worse.

I am speechless. Thomas Aquinas College just dropped a study on the rigor of the new SAT.
It compares the 1980/87 test with 2026. The findings should terrify every parent and teacher...
Vocabulary has collapsed.
Old SAT: 70.6% of questions tested vocab.
New SAT: 15%.
The old test forced students to know a wide range of words through analogies, antonyms, and sentence completions. The new test abandoned that. Most vocab questions now just ask students to fill in one blank from context.
Reading passages also got radically shorter (average ~97 words vs 300–340).
The new test uses short expository passages and hands you the necessary background knowledge inside the text. The older tests leaned much more heavily on argumentative and persuasive writing, assumed far more historical, scientific, and cultural knowledge, and penalized students who lacked it.
This is a redefinition of what "college readiness" means.
If you believe that kids should develop rigorous vocabulary, be capable of sustained reading, and possess background knowledge, I have bad news for you. The SAT no longer measures these.
If you want a future where children can actually read difficult texts and construct complex arguments, the SAT must be replaced now.
This cannot go on.
We were concerned that the SAT has become a less reliable measure of student preparedness for a rigorous college curriculum.
So, we commissioned a study from Johns Hopkins University. What does this study tell us about the state of higher education?
The results are shocking. thaq.co/4iLThZ0

We have always had important, strong strategic relations with the United States of America. Our bilateral relationship began developing particularly actively during the full-scale war. I am grateful for all the support.
But we have always built our relationship on honesty, fairness, and, most importantly, transparency. Because when you lie while your people are at war, it is very painful. That is why I have always wanted to hide nothing and never lie to the President of the United States. In any case, we have more in common than America does with Russia. Most people in Ukraine and the United States of America understand this. We would like to continue having the same open, honest, and pragmatic relations with America that we have today.
The position is very simple. We support a mutual energy ceasefire. If we are talking about the idea that we should not strike back at Russian energy facilities after they strike our gas, electricity, oil – everything. The Russians are striking. America cannot stop them. Let's believe that America really wants to, but cannot. Then, as a partner, I am willing to meet President Trump halfway: if they strike us and we cannot strike back – that is neither honest nor fair – but if this is what you need, if you cannot rein Putin in, then give us interceptor missiles so I can protect our energy infrastructure. You couldn't stop Putin – but you helped Ukraine.

He stopped the shooter, but he didn't stop the shooting. That's the difference. Three kids and their teacher were already dead, and an unarmed teacher had tackled him first. YOU spent decades blocking laws that keep guns away from kids. Now you're taking a victory lap? Fuck that.

Donald Trump and his war in Iran are to blame for our nation's sky-high diesel and gas prices. His latest ploy—buying fuel from his friend Vladimir Putin—reeks of weakness and will help pay for Russia’s war but will do nothing to make life more affordable for American families.
The American people deserve a leader who cares about them, and the Ukrainian people deserve allies who will stand by their side in the fight for a free, democratic, and independent nation.
