Let's talk about OC boundaries! 🗣️ It is an incredible feeling to be inspired by your fellow creators. But whether you want to draw their character in your style or pair them up with your own OC, getting consent is never a creative hurdle: it's how we respect each other's work! While surprise fanart is almost always appreciated, it can be really easy to accidentally cross a boundary the original creator has for their character. The best way to avoid this? Just shoot them a message and ask if they are comfortable with your idea first. Even if you want it to be a surprise gift, it’s always safer to share it with them in a private message before posting it on your public timeline. And remember: if they aren't comfortable with the final result, respect their "no." My personal art style can lean a bit risqué, so I make it a rule to ask for permission and present the final piece privately before it goes anywhere near social media. I've had concepts rejected, and I've worked closely with creators to adjust pieces so they fit my style while honoring their boundaries. It's a system that has worked flawlessly for me for four years. Communication makes the art community better for everyone. Just ask!
