Margaret Thatchers warning about man-made climate change UN 1989
Via @MrMatthewTodd
I’d like to mention Mrs Thatcher warning about man-made climate change being a threat as big as nuclear war, not because I’m a fan of Mrs Thatcher, I can’t stand her, but I think it’s important that people on the right understand that climate change is not a left-wing conspiracy even though the fossil fuel propaganda says exactly that
Are cities
ready for this? @WMO
This El Niño comes on the top of an already heating planet. In cities already struggling with heat, its effects can reach inside homes, workplaces, schools and hospitals.
But cities can prepare. Read on 👉 bit.ly/3WgzGaP

Why are climate scientists not surprised about mountains being destabilized by glacier melt and permafrost thaw?
Because they have long predicted that as a result of #globalheating.

In the 35 years of my career as a climate scientist, I’ve read “climate alarm cancelled!” well over 100 times. All the while global temperatures have risen exactly as predicted since the 1980s, with all the expected effects of increasing extremes, melting ice and rising seas.

Latest "plume" of El Niño forecasts, via @climatesociety. Consensus dynamical forecast is now an HISTORICALLY STRONG max Nino3.4 ~3.0C (statistical forecasts point toward very strong ~2.5C). There is still a wide range of estimates, with some models reaching astonishing ~4.7C.

AMOC kollaps kan inte längre klassas som låg risk. Vi har hittills underskattat sannolikheten för inbromsning och måste nu revidera risk läget, som är i nivån av en nationell säkerhetsrisk som måste tas på stort allvar.
