What does the circulating proteome teach us about common heart diseases?
Thrilled to share our analysis identifying new biomarkers, drug targets, and prediction models for these conditions.

🎉 Our new study in @ScienceTM is featured by @MGBResearchNews and @harvardmed! Leveraging both machine-learning imaging and genomics, we uncovered an underappreciated link between spleen and coronary artery disease🫀- pointing to new potential mechanisms and targets. w/ @pnatarajanmd M. The new @TheLancet Series on CVD in🤰 launched at #ESC2026!
Across 3 papers, the Series spans CVD in🤰→CV health across the life course
In paper #3, we focus on what comes next: how APOs signal future CVD risk, and an opportunity for earlier prevention. lnkd.in/g4Vu2jYF

Out in @JAMACardio! Does clonal hematopoiesis (CHIP) raise the risk of inflammatory heart disease in US patients? Last year, @artschuermans & @mchonig elegantly showed this in the UK Biobank. We wanted to know if it replicates.

Last year, we developed a genetic proxy of IL-6 signaling inhibition that we showed to predict reductions in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk.
Now, we also show reductions in risk of heart failure (both with preserved and reduced ejection fraction).

Dr. Peter Libby and I present the spectrum of patients referred to cardiology for clonal hematopoiesis, define context- and biology-based categories, and outline a structured approach to CV evaluation and management

Happy to share this "journal club" on one of the first studies linking inflammation to atherosclerotic disease.
