We have just heard a sentence here and there. Would be a great task to document that which has been forgotten or brushed aside from contemporary history.

Seeing a lot of coordinated PR for Jean Dr├иze lately as he came out from his hibernation. Having spent years in international & development finance, I have met some of the sharpest minds in the field: sovereign negotiators, project financiers, central bankers and builders of real enterprises. One lesson is stone truth. Socialist economics survives not on evidence but on sentiment and on the comfort of never having to deliver anything. In India, that sentiment wears a jhola, celebrates scarcity as virtue & mistakes performative compassion for some great policy. It has made mediocrity respectable & us averse to higher ambitions in life. Jean Dr├иze is decorated practitioner of this mediocre game and his influence deserves scrutiny.

I know JNU VC from her Pune university days. Fear and subdued and such downcast words are not in her dictionary. She is fearless. Since the news broke about AB AkoijamтАЩs sexual misconduct. I know the VC would not leave the matter hanging. But a host of RW handles went after her because they felt the professor should have been summarily dismissed. Had she done it under an impulsive urge, it would have backfired. She required to follow the process. There is a well-laid guidelines in such matters. Investigation was sensitive. The girls needed assurance that their identity would be protected and they would be safe, their academic careers will not be jeopardised. The accused should get a chance to reply the charges. The delay was worth. She prepared a full-proof case. The accused professor is dismissed. But the second round of justice has just begun. He should lose his membership of LS and go to jail. Thanks madam. ЁЯЩПЁЯП╛

Prof Arvind Sharma (13 January 1940 тАУ 30 September 2026) was a scholar-mentor to many of us who came of age in the 1990s. He was an amazing teacher inside and outside the classroom. His passing is a deeply saddening loss. A scholar of Sanskrit with oceanic knowledge of religions, especially Hinduism, Prof Sharma made several important contributions to theological and divinity studies through his writings and the many books he wrote or edited on comparative religion and Hinduism. His home was McGill University, where he was Birks Professor of Comparative Religion since 1994, more specifically his office there тАФ cluttered with books, paper and his profound thoughts. I feel privileged to have visited that temple of knowledge and sat at the MasterтАЩs feet. Prof Sharma should have been teaching at Benares (where he was born) or at Prayagraj (where he studied) тАФ both cities were centres of knowledge and scholarship. That he couldnтАЩt is a terrible testament to our steep decline as a civilisation and an indictment of the severe erosion of our cultural identity, apart from the decline and death of our ancient groves of academe. In many ways he was a Rishi, a noble soul with a dazzling mind who spent his entire life pursuing the path of acquiring and sharing knowledge, detached from worldly possessions and pursuits. Sanatan Dharma is richer with the body of work he has left behind. Sanatanis are poorer with him no longer there. Prof Sharma shall forever remind us of the cornerstone of Dharma: May his soul attain Sadgati. реР рд╢рд╛рдВрддрд┐ рд╢рд╛рдВрддрд┐ рд╢рд╛рдВрддрд┐ редред ЁЯЩПЁЯП╜

Congrats to five candidates from the 'Asiatic Tomorrow' panel - Madhavi Narsale, Sarang Darshane, Neel Helekar, Vikas Paranjape, and Arvind Singh, have won all 5 seats in the management committee elections at the Asiatic Society of Mumbai's 222nd AGM. Former Congress MP Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, chairman, Board of Trustees, created controversy by walking out of the venue after two stanzas of Vande Mataram.

Yesterday saw #HanumanAnsh After the clip of langurтАЩs presence during shooting ended & Sitaram chant was going on, we were at the exit door. Both my wife & me burst out laughing, subconsciously secretly we did a pradakshina as if leaving a temple. Impact of film @filmervishal
Hanuman Ansh is a movie which has turned theatres into Mandir тЭдя╕П At Inox City Mall, Gorakhpur, after watching the Hanuman Ansh movie, all Ram bhakts are being served laddu, pani, and a copy of the Sunderkand path ЁЯЪй This is not just a film, but a lesson for humans to take good steps and to eliminate the virus of vulgar films spreading in society. Do take your entire family and children to watch Hanuman Ansh. Jai Sitaram

In this essay I discuss three praxes of Marxist historiography, an academic contraption to justify and perpetuate the Muslim separatism that caused the partition of India. The historians of this school continue to sustain the same schismatic feelings in Muslims repackaged as alienation.
Marxist historiography didnтАЩt merely reinterpret IndiaтАЩs past; it helped build a narrative around Muslim separatism, Partition and medieval Muslim rule. 'Historians' Mohammad Habib and Romila Thapar whitewashed uncomfortable episodes while shifting the blame for Partition onto Hindus. The result: a historical narrative that continues to shape how generations understand IndiaтАЩs most consequential rupture. writes @arvindsingh_dev opindia.com/2026/09/from-mohтАж

Socialist Jay Prakash Narayan wanted cultural regeneration of India and for this purpose he called upon Sri Aurobindo and Raman Maharshi to leave their secluded world of hermitage and lead the campaign. Would Nehru have approved? Not likely. Soon JP will resign from the party.

What the West Still DoesnтАЩt Get It: CommunismтАЩs True Core: The Systemic Lie Most people in the West think they understand communism. They picture bread lines, gulags, failed five-year plans, and the collapsed Soviet Union. They treat it as a discredited economic theory тАУ an experiment that proved that abolishing private property doesnтАЩt work. Case closed, history moved on. This misunderstanding may be the most dangerous intellectual failure of our time. Communism was never primarily an economic system. Economics was the surface. Beneath it lay something far more insidious: a total, systemic, institutionalized commitment to lying. Not occasional dishonesty. Not spin or propaganda in the ordinary sense. Something deeper тАУ a civilizational war against truth itself, waged through every institution, every classroom, every newspaper, every conversation, until reality itself became negotiable and the lie became the air people breathed. The Words WeтАЩre Missing The Polish language, forged by decades of living under this system, produced words for this phenomenon that English simply cannot match: Zak┼Вamanie [zah-kwah-MAH-nyeh] тАУ a state of total, pervasive, socially embedded falsehood, a condition in which an entire society is saturated with lies so thoroughly that truth becomes almost inaccessible. Ob┼Вuda [ob-woo-dah] тАУ a deep, performative hypocrisy, the gap between what is proclaimed and what is actually practiced, the mask worn so long it begins to feel like a face. These are not words for individual liars. They describe a system тАУ a mode of social organization built on organized mendacity, where the lie is not the exception but the foundation. English has no single word for either concept, and that linguistic gap is not a coincidence. It reflects a gap in experience. Cultures that did not live under communism lack the vocabulary because they lack the wound. And because they lack the vocabulary, they struggle to recognize the thing when it reappears in new clothing. The Continuity: Communism, Leftism, Wokeism What we call wokeism today, or the broader radical left, is not a new phenomenon. It is the same operating system running on updated hardware. The specifics have changed тАУ instead of the proletariat, we have marginalized identity groups; instead of bourgeois class enemies, we have racists and transphobes; instead of socialist realism, we have DEI statements. But the deep structure is the same. That deep structure is this: truth is not discovered, it is assigned. Reality is not something to be understood honestly but something to be narrated strategically. Language is not a tool for communication but a weapon of power. And anyone who resists the approved narrative is not simply wrong тАУ they are dangerous, and must be silenced, shamed, or destroyed. This is zak┼Вamanie in its modern form. This is ob┼Вuda wearing a human rights badge. The same movement that insists men can become women will insist, with equal fervor, that questioning this is an act of violence. The same institutions that claim to champion free inquiry systematically suppress dissent. The same people who invoke tolerance as their highest value are among the most intolerant forces in public life. The contradiction is not accidental тАУ it is structural. It is the system working as designed. Why the West Still DoesnтАЩt Get It People who grew up in freedom tend to assume, at some level, that bad actors know they are lying. That somewhere behind the ideological performance, there is a cynical operator who privately acknowledges reality. This assumption is wrong, and it is why Westerners consistently underestimate what they are dealing with. The totalitarian lie, at its mature stage, is not cynical. It is believed. Or rather, it creates a condition in which the distinction between belief and performance collapses entirely. People learn to say things they do not believe so fluently, and for so long, that they lose access to what they actually think. 1/2

In February 1982, Susan Sontag, the American radical left's leading literary voice, walked onto a Manhattan stage and told her own tribe that communism was "Fascism with a human face." She left the stage booed by the room that had built her career. The American intellectual left never recovered the moral authority it had claimed for a generation. ЁЯз╡

The money lost on judges holidays could fund 100 schools every year. The good thing about polemic binary is that it need not have limited absurdity. Everything is game.
The polemic binary makes good copy. But not a good policy. Why this and why not that?? - you donтАЩt need to be a SC judge to argue in such a dunderhead fashion. Respected judge leave the kumbh mela to SM trolls and tell us whether the state expenditure on a religious affair is a secular practice, if it is, what is the issue?
