I understand wanting “the interview,” but this might’ve been the biggest win of Sark’s career! The interview is supposed to bring the viewer closer to moments like this. Holly’s visible annoyance did the opposite. It made the interview feel more important than the moment itself.
Holly Rowe always seems to manage a post interview facial expression. What was she trying to communicate with the audience this time?
The @spurs first game in Austin of the season! @wemby gets a few shots in during pre-game. #i35series #gospursgo
I saw @paras360 do this at a @HoustonRockets game in 2024.
Incredibly powerful moment.

Hi honey. My day was great! I hyperlooped into San Antonio, caught the @spurs game, and picked up some tortillas on the way home. How was your day?

Boring Company is working on a simple, precursor Hyperloop tunnel between Austin and San Antonio (>200 mph).
Due to traffic congestion, that journey can currently take up to 2.5 hours. @BoringCompany can reduce that to a consistent <30 mins.

She’s allowed to feel annoyed. But it’s strange to think that because she feels an emotion, she’s entitled to display it. When your profession is being on camera in front of millions of people, exercising some restraint over personal frustration is part of being a professional.

So in that split second where he pretty much ignores a professional trying to do her job, she's supposed to just stand there, smile and not react? Got it.
The replies are a pretty good example of how every opinion gets pushed to an extreme. I never took a position on whether Sark was right or wrong to dismiss the interview. My point was that Holly visibly showing annoyance during a huge moment took away from the moment itself.
“Know your role” is the perfect encapsulation of this. Laura Rutledge, by contrast, explained to viewers why the interview wasn’t happening and still made a point to promote/credit one of the stars her network was there to showcase.

Facts! The lines get blurred sometimes but the reporters are not more important than the game! Know your role is what it comes down to. Coach had a multitude of emotions happening all at once & I’m sure he just wanted to be with his guys.

My point is that her job is to make the broadcast and the moment better for the viewer, not simply to secure the interview. A coach running off to celebrate the biggest win of his career is great television. Showing visible frustration that he didn’t stop for an interview takes away from the moment and makes it about her. People watch sports for big moments, not to watch Holly Rowe check boxes.
“I can’t stand people who don’t know football” is a lazy way to avoid addressing the point. Sark wanted to celebrate a huge win with his team. That’s the moment. Her reaction made it seem like he did something wrong by choosing the celebration over her interview.

So absolutely wrong. Even Ok States head coach had time for a fkin interview after the biggest win in their history, jesus i can’t stand these people who have no idea what happens in football
