5 years ago I learnt my great-grandfather led 10,000 Russian Jews to Galveston, Texas – a story forgotten by my family and the world. It was surreal and wonderful to talk about it with @biannagolodryga, who left the former Soviet Union as a child and immigrated to... Galveston.

Scores of Palestinian journalists have been documenting the horrors suffered in Gaza, and many of them have lost their lives doing so. Now @CNN’s @clarissaward, @scottycnn and @BrentSwailsCNN managed to enter without Israeli military escort. Watch their extraordinary report.

As a follow-on to CNN's Emmys win last week, worth revisiting this excellent explainer by @katie_polglase and @GianlucaMezzo on how we combine tools like geolocation with on-the-ground reporting in Ukraine (and around the world): cnn.com/2022/02/28/world/ukr…

Wow, this is such an incredible surprise! This Emmy nomination really belongs to the phenomenal team at CNN. Especially the small, but mighty team behind the camera in China, whose faces and names the world does not see.
The environment for journalists in China is at its worst point in decades. The country is increasingly cracking down on independent reporting and punishing Chinese nationals who speak out. Finding the truth is harder than ever. Reporting on the ground means dealing with surveillance, intimidation from local authorities, and lots of online harassment on Chinese social media.
To my devoted colleagues - you are the unsung heroes of our reporting.
@cnn @cnnipr
The #NewsEmmys nominees in Outstanding Emerging Journalist are @YousurAlhlou @nytimes, @ellisonbarber @NBCNews, @simplyzinhle @NBCNews, @ashan @ABC, @selinawangtv @CNN
