I have no words of my own that could even come close to conveying what I have just seen and we have all just witnessed.
So I turn to the direct words of Ambassador Husam Zomlot, @hzomlot , Head of the Palestinian Mission to the UK. Listen carefully to his words:
“Israel media did not show the mass murder of Palestinian children and innocent civilians, or the mass destruction of Gaza. But Israeli media has no qualms about showing these savage images of Israeli occupation forces detaining and stripping civilians taken from a UN shelter in Gaza today. This evokes some of humanity's darkest passages of history. It is well past time that the world speaks as one and demands - and enforces - an immediate and permanent #ceasefire.”

🧵1/8 🚨 New #preprint alert! 🚨 This new study by @gershbrain and I is the first to directly test the predictions of our policy compression model, which describes how capacity-limited agents trade reward for simpler policies to reduce cognitive cost

An outsider's perspective: I respond to Tim Bayne’s article about whether the integrated information theory (IIT) of consciousness should be considered pseudoscience. doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/sjn9…

Lab's new preprint.
Can the perception of an illusion be materialized as an image from brain activity?

Excited to share that my PhD work is now published in @CellReports !
We showed that Drosophila dopaminergic neurons encode innate odor values and continuously update the values in a non-associative manner!!

As a member of ASSC and part of two TWCF-funded initiatives, I signed the IIT letter. I have some further thoughts on why I signed that I think are worth reading (apologies that this is long!) and worthy of further discussion:

Replying to @NewsfromScience
but... neither idea 'lost'! this is not what the preprint says, nor is it what was said in the event. your headline is irresponsibly inaccurate. i would hope for better in the future.

How is ongoing visual experience represented?
Using intracranial recordings, we uncover distinct representation dynamics in the ventral stream and prefrontal cortex.

📣🥳 Thrilled to present our new preprint! 😊🎉
In this new ECoG study w\ @deouell, @edden_gerber & Bob Knight we show that sustained experiences are not represented by the magnitude of activity, but by the pattern of responses across sites!

"Every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine years from 1964 until 1973, a planeload of cluster bombs was dropped on Laos by American B-52s. The bombing campaign was aimed at hemming in America’s enemies in neighboring Vietnam. The U.S. was never at war with the people of Laos, and the American people were largely oblivious to the bombing campaign in the country at the time."
80 million of these "bomblets" still litter the Laotian countryside. Over 1000 were killed from these decades old bombs in Laos between 2008 and 2022 alone!
Where's the accountability?
