Im sorry im not buying this ‘not reviewing code’ thing. Maybe later, but certainly not now, even with frontier models with max thinking
Every single day I’m catching nonsense. If you’re merging this shit without looking, the systems your working on are either
- not important and/or
- have zero consequences for being wrong
Sometimes Gen AI is used in a way that reminds me of the food adulteration plague. When people would put things like titanium oxide in expired wheat flour to make it white and less putrid.

Not at all. 4 years is very short. Social media glorifies shipping speed but real, durable ideas all take a decade or more. Very few quick wins that aren't just flash in the pan. Dig in deep and expect the good ideas to be full time work for a long, long time.

I come with you with great news today. Me and my friends have launched Humanbrew.
It's a small Discord server dedicated to homebrew made without AI. By humans, for humans. 🫶
Let's learn from each other, let's make cool things and let's have fun. :)

As someone who still prefers to make games in a custom engine I wrote, the code is kind of an inseparable part of a game's character, decisions about engine structure and every little bit of code have ripples that can be felt in the end product, even if hard to pick out specifics

I think our game studio should be 100% AI free, for the foreseeable future. I’m not an AI hater, and i think AI can assist in making good things, but with the coming AI slop wave, avoiding all AI content will be an effective filter for many players to avoid a lot of trash.

I've been reviewing a lot of code written by Opus 5.5, and it still seems to make a lot of bad software engineering decisions. The kind that will accumulate/calcify into unmaintainable software over time. IMO even the agents will struggle to maintain vibecoded software.
If I can't use all the 3D-models from your training set due to licensing, why should I be able to use any of its output?

Forcing developers to write a political statement to be used against them by the hate mob they’re helping organize is abhorrent.

After dozens of replies, I guess I have my answer as to why indie developers would use AI:
They don't care about art, or expressing anything. Their only motive is profit. Nothing else matters to them. Got it.
I suppose I was foolish to expect anything else. My bad, everybody!

Hot take: it’s the second-rate programmers raving about ai.
ai code is mediocre at best.
I have yet to experience the “great leap in dev speeds” on frontier models when I have to baby it for quality.
Even “A-listers” can have bad takes.

As I manually type more code (Yes I am a dinosaur) and review my code using AI tools, I am finding how bad AI suggestions are from an architectural perspective. It behaves like a teenager, who when asked to clean the room simply pushes all the garbage under the bed.
When I confront AI with those bad decisions it says "Oh yeah you are right....".
I really don't understand how people are 100% trusting AI and committing all the code without reviewing.

“you’ll be left behind if you don’t use Al”
Sure. And you’ll be “ahead” for a short period of time in which you’ll render yourself incapable of anything other than a middleman who knows how to prompt, which will turn out to be the most replaceable loophole job on earth

If you can't be bothered to write it, why should I read it?
If you can't be bothered to craft it, why should I touch it?
If you can't be bothered to learn it, why should I listen?
If you can't be bothered to watch it, why should I see it?

LLMs are incredible at producing something that appears to work, but if you look at in detail, it's a series of Rube Goldberg machines.
I don't believe it's a skill issue on my part. They will invariably do something incredibly stupid for the tiniest challenges. I still love them, but they certainly can't program.
