They brought together śraddhā—the reverence that opens one to knowledge—and śāstra—the disciplined inquiry that examines, tests and transmits it. For Dr. Srinidhi V, this balance is central to understanding Indian pedagogy. Knowledge is not merely information; it is embedded in paramparā, practice and a deeper understanding of reality through adhibhūta, adhidaiva and adhyātma. Today is Pārśva Parivartinī Ekādaśī. Also known as Vāmana Ekādaśī, this sacred day falls in the middle of #Cāturmāsya, when Lord #Viṣṇu is believed to rest in #YogaNidrā upon Śeṣa. Today, He turns to His other side, giving the #Ekādaśī its name Parivartinī, the turning Ekādaśī. The day is closely connected with the story of Vāmana and #Mahābali. When Vāmana asked Bali for three paces of land, the generous king agreed. Vāmana then revealed His Virāta form and covered the earth and heavens in two steps. With no place left for the third, Bali offered his own head. Pleased with his surrender, Bhagavān granted him His presence in #Sutala. The traditional account associates this Ekādaśī with Bali worshipping and keeping a form of the Lord in his abode. There is something beautiful about this turning. The Lord turns in His cosmic sleep; Bali turns from possession to surrender. A sterling service to the nation In his tribute to Dr. Meenakshi Jain, Dr. Bharat Gupt spoke of the significance of a pure academic and historian entering the Rajya Sabha. Hindu parenting is more than passing on traditions at home. It is about creating a world in which a child can experience, understand and live the Dharmic way of life. In this Changemakers conversation, Smt Rekha Achyutuni, founder of Hindu Parenting, speaks about raising children with a confident sense of identity and a living connection to their civilizational inheritance. Children learn not merely through instruction, but through rasa and experience — stories, music, dance, festivals, rituals, food, temples and community. It is also about stewardship. Protecting existing Dharmic spaces — and creating new ones — gives children places where their heritage is not something they merely learn about, but something they participate in. A child may discover Dharma through a śloka, a story, Bharatanāṭyam, Kalaripayattu, a temple visit, a family ritual or even a traditional recipe. The task of Hindu parenting, therefore, is not to prescribe a single path, but to help each child discover their svadharma, develop viveka, and grow with a rooted yet expansive sense of self.
